Nosy noses don't always know what's safe and, while even most of my nondog owning pals know the risks of chocolate, not everyone realizes the dangers of chewing gum. While this can lodge in a pet's throat (especially if ingested paper, packaging and all), those sugar-free products are pure poison to pets.
The not-so-sweet alternative known as xylitol can cause liver failure and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), which can lead to depression, loss of coordination, and even seizures in your furry friends.

Ear Infections
Middle ear (otitis media) infections are very common in young children. They include:
- Acute otitis media (AOM) is an inflammation caused by bacteria that travel to the middle ear from fluid trapped in the Eustachian tube. Children with AOM exhibit signs of an ear infection including pain, fever, and tugging at the ear.
- Otitis media with effusion (OME) refers to fluid that accumulates in the middle ear without obvious signs of infection.

Otitis media is an infection of the middle ear, the area just behind the eardrum. It happens when the eustachian tubes, which connect the middle ear to the nose, become blocked with fluid. With the infection, mucus, pus, and bacteria can also pool behind the eardrum, causing pressure and pain.

Dental care for wee ones begins when their teeth come in, some pediatricians recommend that parents clean them with a damp washcloth on a daily basis. Given that there are prepackaged wipes for everything from diaper changing to hand sanitizing, it is no surprise that the concept has also been developed for your lil one's pearly whites. Tooth Tissues ($7 for a pack of 30) were created by two dentists concerned about the rise in childhood tooth decay.

I often experience "cotton mouth" when I am running and, while it's totally annoying, I had no idea that it could actually be damaging to my teeth. Well, according to the California Dental Hygienists' Association, it is.
Distance runners, cyclists, triathletes, and other serious athletes often experience cotton mouth, which reduces saliva from increased air intake.

Instead of makeup, shampoos, or hair removal devices, for this week's Beauty Mark It Challenge we're talking teeth. I wanted to know which toothpastes got those pearlies all sparkly and which ones didn't freshen as nicely. Thanks to all of your reviewing efforts, and here are my favorites below:
