Last weekend I made a giant leg of rosemary-and-garlic-marinated lamb and served it as part of my Greek dinner. Although it was wildly flavorful, succulent, and perfectly cooked, because there were fewer people than I had expected, there was a lot left over. Since I couldn't let the lamb go to waste, I decided to make shepherd's pie.

Since I'm a huge fan of the way Ina Garten takes classic recipes and turns up the volume, I recently decided to give her potato and leek soup a try. Instead of simply sauteing and simmering the vegetables, she roasts them in the oven until soft, crisp, and caramelized. The resulting soup is full of deep flavor with a rich velvety texture.

Although it may seem impossible or just simply ironic, this quick braised chicken comes together in under half an hour. Traditionally, for a dish to be considered a braise, it must be browned and then slow-cooked for a long period of time.
However, it's 2010, and if you want to braise flavorful chicken legs in a tomato, mushroom, and onion sauce for a mere 15 minutes, go right ahead!

The length of this year's Winter is getting to me. Lately, during my weekly farmers market trips, I've been on the lookout for newly-released fruits and vegetables in an attempt to spice up my dinner repertoire. This week, I spotted baby bok choy — a fantastic alternative to other prolific Winter leafy greens like kale and chard.
