We all want our loved ones to bond with our pets, but what if your future partner wasn't so into the animal scene? Newly single Mario Lopez recently told People that he could never date someone who doesn't like dogs . . . and I agree! While I've dated some guys who were less than keen on my hyper lil North, they eventually warmed up to him, but it still didn't make me happy. As the big day nears, there comes a time to make sure your furry family approves of your fiancé! While dogs most likely meet people on daily walks, kitties may be used to your undivided attention at home . . . which can cause quite the disruption when a newcomer steals some of her spotlight. How do you teach your cat to love the one you love? I've gathered some tips and tricks to help her adjust.

Food wins her heart. Have your partner take over some mealtime duties. Let him prepare and present her food and stay nearby while she eats it, gradually getting closer as she begins to get used to his presence.
Don't forget playtime. Let him play with interactive games like a feather-laden fishing pole or other toys for active, instinctive cats. If she can't resist frolicking around, chances are she'll come around to him too.

Neither North nor I have met a cookie we didn't like and I heard from Yum that offering a dessert bar with brownies, cookies, and more is a big wedding trend this year. Well, now if your event will be including furry friends, why not treat them to a fancy cookie buffet, too? It's hard enough to choose which snack is for you and which is meant for your dog on a normal day so make sure to label them well on the big day! Gift Cards For the Big Day Starring Your Pet!

Well, the decision's still out on whether or not you'd marry off your pet but, even if you wouldn't, how about giving a Gift Card Lab creation with the face of the best ~~man~~ dog to the happy (human) couple? While normal gift cards can be a tad impersonal, adding a picture of a beloved pet shows that you are thinking of them, too! Simply upload a picture of a happy "couple" (or their new furry fam) and you'll be able to set different dollar amounts, recipient names, and personalized messages when you check out. Remember, don't get the Visa in a furry friend's name – they still can't purchase things on their own . . . usually that is.

Since we're full steam ahead bringing you all things wedding here on the Sugar Network, it's time to talk planning. If wedding bells will be ringing for your pets sometime soon, then you'll want to start thinking about the best part of the whole event: the cake!

Now, as much as we all enjoy stuffing our faces with some cake during big events, some common ingredients can be harmful to animals. Make sure that the cake you get (or make yourself) is pet-friendly. For example, chocolate is toxic to dogs, but it's an easy fix by substituting carob instead. If you don't have time to slave away in the kitchen, don't be embarrassed to let the pros handle it. Animal bakeries are popping up all over the country and are becoming quite a hit here in SF, too. Include Your Pets in Your Wedding Shower!

Since you're reading this site, there's a good chance that you (and possibly your new fiancé) have a pet. Combining animal families can be as tricky as blending each other's human families, both needing lots of love and patience. To make all the members of your new and improved pack feel welcome, include them in on your wedding shower festivities. It doesn't take much, but this way each of your pets can get to know new friends and family members that they'll be bonding with for the rest of their lives.

Simple ways that you can make them feel welcome are: including your guests' pets in the shower, having your guests bring a treat for your furry pals along with your own shower gifts, design some pet themed games and decorations, and send your friends home with a pet doggie bag filled with fun treats.

Nicole Richie may not be any closer to marriage... but her pooches are! It seems mom (and mom-to-be) already picked up some formal wear for Honeychild and Foxxy Cleopatra at Santa Monica's The Wagging Tail. Her pooches can sport a new tuxedo and bridesmaid dress at her yet-to-be-announced wedding... and they won't be the first. Celebrities like Adam Sandler, Gwen Stefani, and Tori Spelling have all included their furry family on the big day.

The growing trend of including dogs in weddings has increased the clothing options for pooches who receive an invite to a formal event – and no one wants to show up underdressed!

Padding Down the Aisle?

Now I may not be ready for marriage anytime soon, but the one thing I am sure of is that little North will play some part in the wedding whenever it is! He already is an "American Gentleman," and all he really needs is a bow-tie collar and poof... insta-suit! I know that including pets in ceremonies can be a controversial choice; it seems like family, friends, venue directors, and even your spouse-to-be will have some opinion on the matter – but I'd only like to hear from you! What's your take on pets at weddings? Did you (or would you) bring Fido and/or Fluffy along... or do/did you feel like your pet's place was at home?Source
