Sugar Editorial Picks

Nosy noses don't always know what's safe and, while even most of my nondog owning pals know the risks of chocolate, not everyone realizes the dangers of chewing gum. While this can lodge in a pet's throat (especially if ingested paper, packaging and all), those sugar-free products are pure poison to pets.
The not-so-sweet alternative known as xylitol can cause liver failure and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), which can lead to depression, loss of coordination, and even seizures in your furry friends.

Although scampi technically refers to a type of crayfish that's popular in the Adriatic, in the United States, the word has come to mean a garlicky, sautéed shrimp dish often served with pasta. Regardless of whether or not the term "shrimp scampi" is being used correctly, the Italian-American staple, with its pungent aroma, slippery pasta, and succulent, tail-on shrimp, is worth making.
For a main course that requires minimal effort, stick to tried-and-true Mediterranean flavors like garlic and rosemary.

We wouldn't leave our pets out of a family party in the backyard and the same is true for the first family including Bo in some fun. Michelle (and Malia) walk their Portuguese Water Dog down to the South Lawn to attend a luau hosted by President Barack Obama for members of Congress and their families yesterday. I think I see a wagging tail!

Did you know that toads are technically frogs? Both frogs and toads are amphibians and belong to the same order, Anura, which means "without a tail." However, toads and frogs belong to different families.

Who won today? Well, that depends what your definition of "win" is. Clinton definitely broke Obama's winning streak, and came away with big prizes — Ohio, a state crucial in the general election, and Texas, which is as big as it gets.

During our weight loss endeavors, there comes a time when we jump on the scale and find that we have not lost any weight since the last time we checked. It stings a little at first, I know. We think, "I've been working my tail off and I haven't even lost a single [insert explicit profanity] pound?"
