When a big storm comes though, staying off the roads inherently cuts back on gasoline use. But using a gasoline-powered snow blower or other snow removal product to clear the snow from your driveway and walkway will also emit greenhouse gases. So, instead, use an electric-powered one.

This tool is a snow rake, and has a very long handle. Can you guess which part of your home it rakes snow from?

While Lily Allen was relatively wrapped up as she took to the Primrose Hill slopes for some sledding, Fearne Cotton was working yesterday as she was announced to host the red carpet duties for this year's BAFTA Awards. She's also newly loved up again, as apparently she's back with ex-boyfriend Jesse Jenkins! Though the snowy backdrop was a nice idea, I'm sure Fearne wasn't too thrilled at having to step outside the warm pressroom to pose in her short dress outside, with bare legs!

Lily Allen unleashed her inner child in the snow in London yesterday, and I adore these photos of her sledding and playing! FabUK, BellaUK and I have all been overexcited by the snow that fell across the UK yesterday, and it seems Lily, Henry Holland and all her buddies were too as they took to Primrose Hill for plenty of fun!
Lily took to the hill in all manner of "sleds", from sliding down the hill on a laminated wall calendar, then sitting in a washing basket, and then trying out a couple of different purpose-built contraptions, perhaps she's still celebrating her number one single!

If you live in a snowy climate, chances are that you'll spend a good amount of time each week shoveling your front walk, which is actually a good form of exercise. Most cities also require that residents keep the sidewalks in front of their property free of snow and ice. Do you shovel at your home?

Snow keeps falling around much of the country, but here's a product that can prove useful whether your surroundings include snow, grass, or sand. Back when we talked about wintry bathroom breaks that some pets would prefer to avoid, I spotted this item mentioned in the comments (thanks, flyingroo).
Pups with problems deciding where to go, meet Potty Rock ($15).

North's happy to announce we're in the middle of a veritable heat wave in SF since he's not a cold weather fan! If you live in a colder climate where your snow bunnies can run and play (and hopefully pee) in the white stuff, try tossing them a snowball. Say you don't have the similarly-shaped toy at the ready, would your fetch loving pets chase a snowball in a pinch?

The holidays are over, but there's still plenty of Winter weather to be had. Even when I'm not hibernating, I love the look of snowflake motifs and minimalist snow-inspired accents. They lend a pretty, modern vibe to feminine or masculine rooms.

Let's tackle a common problem with doggies in cold-weather climates – especially in cities where bathroom breaks come in the form of walks on snowy sidewalks. Even North was hesitant about potty time in Winter, preferring to do his business where there was the least amount of slush to trudge through (usually the curb). If you've also had (or still have!) this problem, let's come up with ways to help pups get over it or solutions to at least make it a lil easier on them in the meantime.

I've already mentioned the dangers of ice melts but what do you do when faced with steps full of snow?! I want to hear your best recommendations for environmentally (and pet) safe products to prevent slipping in wintry weather.
I know that some people use eco-tastic sand, grit, or gravel to add traction but keep plants and waterways safe, yet I imagine that can get kinda muddy, too.
