Just 'cause it's good for the environment, doesn't mean it needs to be bad on the eyes. Take this brand-new collection from Mascot: it's eco-friendly and fashion-friendly.
There are six different color combos, but the blue/yellow style, along with these charms, benefit the company's non-profit partner, Canine Companions for Independence, which trains assistance dogs for people with disabilities.

Hello sunshine, and goodbye apartment – North and I will be taking plenty of outdoor adventures as the weather's looking up for the weekend! Although my pup usually trots along happily beside me – except when greeting any and all passersby – there are times when he lays on the grass and tries to take a nibble.
Always up for a little education, I consulted my pals at PetMD to see what's up with his impromptu sidewalk salads.

Made of reclaimed cotton fibers, the path from each sweater's eco-tastic origin to the final product is fascinating. Reknitz ($38) separates pre-consumer textile table remnants into raw fibers that are then blended with 24 percent new acrylic fibers and spun into yarn. That's cool but my favorite part is that the color options don't come from dyes but instead from the (skilled) mixing of textile cuttings to create the lovely hues from what's available.

Hot day, hot dog, cool drink, cool dog – if you're in a warm climate, I'm betting you take many water breaks on long walks. Now, I've been known to form a makeshift bowl for North with my hands – and showed him how to drink from a sports bottle stream – but these bowls would make his sipping much easier.Slurp Bowls ($13.50 for a six-pack) prevent impromptu drinks from questionable dishes or emergency stops for a to-go container since you'll always find this on hand, strapped to the leash. The recyclable and re-usable bowls fold out to hold two cups of water or food and then snap back up.

Perfect for a dog living in the actual White House, the eco-tastic Sustainable Pet Design created this habitat as a gift for the Obama family's future pet. Consisting of donated materials as part of Project Summa Canum (Latin for "top dog"), the house even has presidential origins – it's made with wood from Tennessee Aromatic Cedar trees that Andrew Jackson planted along the driveway of his estate, The Hermitage. This white house looks pretty amazing – see the sandblasted logo on the back – and I can't wait to find out what kind of pooch will be living inside!

I'm a sucker for super-cute scratchers and not only do I have my eye on this one, kitty has her whole face on it. After all, a feline outline says "I love cats" in a much cooler way than a carpeted scratcher would do and, while it's on the pricier side, why not splurge on such a fun shape (especially for those cardboard fans out there). The Kittypod Mini ($98) is recycled and recyclable .
