Wow. And we complain about high taxes in the US!
Romanian-born Alina Percea, 18, auctioned off her virginity to an Italian businessman (for only $18,000!) and now she's facing some pretty stiff taxes in Germany where she goes to school — 50 percent straight away because they're deeming her act prostitution (legal there) and then a 19 percent VAT (value added tax) because she earned her money so quickly!

Despite the fact that much of it conjures memories of school fair spin art, 223 lots of work by Damien Hirst grossed a record $200 million at a Sotheby's auction in London this week. Perhaps you agree with Andy Warhol, who said, "Art is what you can get away with." In that case, you'd snatch up Hirst's spin art in a heartbeat (if you had the dough).

I'm sure you had better things to do this weekend, but me, I spent mine on eBay looking at a weird number of state-shaped cornflakes. On Friday night, an Austin-based trivia-company purchased a cornflake shaped like Illinois for $1,350. That's right, Monty Kerr, owner of TriviaMania, spent over a thousand dollars on a single cornflake.

A few weeks ago, I told you about an adorable little book called Decorating Is Fun!, written by famed American hostess and interior designer Dorothy Draper. She's probably best known for decorating the Greenbriar Resort in West Virginia in 1948, and I just read on Shelterrific that hundreds of furniture items, home accents, and artwork from Draper's Greenbriar are going up for auction starting Sept. 29.

Well designed props make a yoga practice better. A slippery yoga mat can just about ruin the calming affects of your down dog. Maybe a patented, smartly designed yoga mat signed by a celebrity would make your practice stellar?

Donatella Versace, Mariska Hargitay, Joanne Woodward, Camille Grammer (Kelsey's wife) and Anne Tyler have all generously donated their handbags for Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorder's Celebrity Handbag Auction. It will run from now until May 9 and proceeds benefit digestive disease research for the organization.
