Thursday morning is like TV Christmas in Hollywood, when the nominations will be announced for this year's Emmy Awards. While I assume some nominations are shoo-ins, plenty of others are long shots — and those are the ones that have me crossing my fingers today. Read on to see which shows, actors, and TV personalities I'm rooting for the hardest as we await this week's big announcement.

If I were Betty Suarez, I'd be pretty sick of braces after more than two years, and according to some dentists, those braces would be off by now for sure. In fact, some specialists are claiming that Ugly Betty gives a "detrimental" portrayal of wire braces because Betty hasn't had her braces removed yet, and because the braces supposedly make her "unattractive." Tracey Posner, of the British Orthodontic society, has stated:
It is irresponsible of the programme makers to portray Betty as "ugly" because she wears prominent braces.

I can't believe it's been 10 whole years since SpongeBob SquarePants came bounding enthusiastically into our living rooms, but it's true! To mark the occasion, tonight VH1 will air Square Roots: The Story of SpongeBob SquarePants, an original SpongeBob SquarePants TV documentary. Then, from July 17-19, Nickelodeon will air a 50-hour "event," hosted by Patchy the Pirate, which "will include an unprecedented 11 SpongeBob premieres and a top-10 countdown of celebrities' favorite SpongeBob episodes."

Leighton Meester and Blake Lively were sat on those familiar New York steps as they filmed more scenes for the upcoming series three of Gossip Girl. Blake covered up in a dressing gown as she rehearsed with Leighton, and when filming started she showed off her funky outfit! Meanwhile Ed Westwick was in town in Chuck Bass's clothing, showing off a range of facial expressions as he waited to film on the streets of the city, and still managing to look very handsome with it!

From the many Real Housewives to the teenagers of NYC Prep to the high-flying love-seekers of Millionaire Matchmaker, Bravo has built a brand around showcasing the lives of the rich, materialistic, and fabulous. Tonight brings the debut of the latest show in that style: Miami Social, which focuses on the lives of a successful, powerful clique of friends who — we're told — rule South Beach's social scene.
So many of Bravo's recent reality shows have turned into fizzy guilty pleasures — but will Miami Social be another?

It's Summer, and that means it's time for my Five Questions series, where I reflect on the most recent seasons of some favorite shows and chat about their challenges for the future. Today, I'm posing some questions for Gossip Girl, which will start its third season in the Fall.
How will college change things?

From everything I've read about ABC's upcoming series Defying Gravity, it's apparently something like the lovechild of Grey's Anatomy, Battlestar Galactica, and Lost . . .
