Will You Watch The Face of Courage: Kids Living With Cancer?

After a long day of taking care of her children, the last thing many moms may choose to do is sit down and watch a show about pediatric cancer patients. But if it's anything like the upcoming Nickelodeon special, The Face of Courage: Kids Living with Cancer (premiering Sunday, Jan. 24, at 8 p.m.) she might change her mind. Though shows about ailing children are not typically at the top of a parent's must-watch list, this spot might be worth tuning in for. It features cancer survivor Linda Ellerbee and seven real children telling their heroic stories of battling cancer from a firsthand perspective. Courageous, cute, funny, and brave youngsters, they share their war stories along with their dreams and expectations. So while the subject of childhood cancer is dreadful, hopefully through their experiences, these lil warriors will bring hope and a smile to many viewers, especially families in the same predicament.

I'll admit the St. Jude's commercials get me choked up, so I'm pretty sure my tissue box won't stand a chance when this hits my tellie. Will you tune in for The Face of Courage: Kids Living With Cancer?

New Special Shows Day in the Life of a Child With Allergies

We are all aware of what our lil ones eat, but parents of kids with allergies have to be extra sensitive when it comes to the menu. The rate of allergies has increased over the past 20-30 years and now more than three million kids have them. By the time they enter middle school, one in every 20 kids is watching what she puts in her mouth.

Fifty-four percent of LilSugar readers' children attend a peanut-free school or daycare center, making them well-aware of the issues. While most kids know someone affected by food, eczema, asthma, hay fever, it is virtually impossible for them to understand the emotional issues they deal with on a daily basis. This Sunday, Sept 27., Nickelodeon takes on the world of life-threatening allergies with a new special called I’m Allergic to My World. The Nick News with Linda Ellerbee special follows the lives of several children with various allergies and shows what it is like to spend a day in their shoes. The eye-opening program is a must-see for anyone who has ever questioned their school's no-nut policy. Will you tune in to watch it?

Dell and Nickelodeon Team Up to Create a Kid-Friendly Netbook

Ah, kids these days. . . when they're not gabbing away on their cell phones, they've got their faces glued to the screens of portable gaming devices.

Well Dell is next in line to target younger audiences by working closely with Nickelodeon to create a 10.1-inch mini Inspiron netbook. The laptop, which is covered in the signature-green slime design by iCarly, comes fully loaded with entertaining and educational content and a Nickelodeon-branded desktop wallpaper and icons.

The price of this three-pound netbook hasn't been announced as of yet, but you can expect it to be around the same price as the regular mini 10. They will be available in Dell and Wal-Mart store shelves starting this October.

TV Tonight: SpongeBob SquarePants Documentary

I can't believe it's been 10 whole years since SpongeBob SquarePants came bounding enthusiastically into our living rooms, but it's true! To mark the occasion, tonight VH1 will air Square Roots: The Story of SpongeBob SquarePants, an original SpongeBob SquarePants TV documentary. Then, from July 17-19, Nickelodeon will air a 50-hour "event," hosted by Patchy the Pirate, which "will include an unprecedented 11 SpongeBob premieres and a top-10 countdown of celebrities' favorite SpongeBob episodes."

Here are a few more details on tonight's documentary, produced by Wordplay's Creadon O'Malley:

Commissioned by Nickelodeon to commemorate the anniversary of the series' first episode, the documentary chronicles the beloved character's journey to international pop culture icon status and showcases the series' impact on everyone from President Barack Obama, kids across the globe and San Quentin inmates who readily sing its catchy theme song. The one-hour documentary, features an opening song from Avril Lavigne and commentary from creator Steve Hillenburg, cast and crew members, industry experts, fanatics and celebrities like LeBron James, Ricky Gervais and Rosario Dawson.

Aww. I can't wait to tune in for this. Technically SpongeBob SquarePants is a kids' show, but it's so clever and witty, I actually watch it fairly regularly with my friends because it often makes me laugh way more than certain adult comedies do. I used to think Squidward was my favorite character but I also have a major soft spot for the evil schemer, Plankton.

2009 Kids' Choice Awards: The Kids Have Chosen

The kids have slimed a whole new generation at this year's Kids' Choice Awards - in place of Miley Cyrus for fave TV actress there's Selena Gomez. Where Jessica Alba reigned as favorite movie actress, the kids have now crowned Vanessa Hudgens. And the Harry Potter series has been replaced by the Twilight series in the "favorite book" department. Jack Black is still quite popular with "the kids" these days, as is Will Smith. And the show itself, as usual, got a little wild and slimey.

Wee TV: Nickelodeon to Cover Inauguration

If last night's inaugural concert for kids got your lil one excited about today's historic events, be sure to keep your boob tube tuned to Nickelodeon throughout the day today. The network best known for its slime machine continues its 'Kids Pick the President' campaign by sending three young reporters, including Phil Collins' daughter Lily, to our nation's capital to report on the transfer of power from their perspective. The coverage will include retrospectives of past inaugurations, interviews with tots attending the event and highlights of President Obama's inaugural address. It will appear during commercial breaks throughout the day and between regularly scheduled prime time programming until the end of the month - plenty of time for Sasha and Malia to catch it once the hoopla dies down.

In case you missed it, our resident cutie Samson won the title of Cutest Dog in the Worldwide Fido Awards! LilPeaPod, her BF, and Samson headed down to Santa Monica late last week for the taping of the show, and snapped up a few behind-the-scenes piccys to share with us. Big congrats to Samson on taking the "Cutest" title, and although he didn't get the top Worldwide Fido award, he's still a winner in our hearts!

OK, now the back story: Hosted by Fred Willard (star of one of our favorite animal movies), the 2008 Worldwide Fido Awards took place in the aptly-named Barker Hangar in Santa Monica over the weekend. The finalists were announced for six categories including our very own Samson who captured the title of "Cutest Dog" – woohoo!

Judges for the event included celebrity dog trainer Tamar Gellar and actors Kevin Nealon and Vivica A. Fox, and lucky for us LilPeaPod has some behind the scenes tales coming later today.

2008 Nick UK KCAs Preview: George Sampson and Signature

Those Britain's Got Talent finalists were out in force at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards at the weekend. The always-entertaining Signature did their Michael Jackson dance act for the screaming kids, and George Sampson also performed as well as winning... er...
