These Le Corbusier chairs, in the portfolio of interior designer Martha Angus, were originally leather, but were reupholstered in absorbent terrycloth. I think it's kind of a clever idea for a cabana, but I'm struggling with it. Was it sacrilegious to strip the chairs of their iconic leather?

Designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier as a modernist response to the traditional club chair, the LC2 Petit Modele Armchair ($3,500-3,880) was an instant icon. Its sumptuous pillows are held in place without being tethered to a frame, and its chrome frame has a polished industrial look that had never been seen before. In other words, it's as stunning as it is comfortable, which explains why it's drooled over worldwide.

I recently stopped by my friend's drawing exhibit at the California College of the Arts, and of course I couldn't help but check out the digs. Aside from the fancy schmancy Le Corbusier chairs in the lounge (seriously, I went to the wrong college), my eyes were drawn to this chandelier, made from upcycled plastic bottles, hanging from the ceiling. Obviously, it's not for all, but I loved the way it looked in this industrial space.

Beginning January 28, Colette, a design concept store in Paris, will house the "Skate Study House" exhibit, a reinterpretation of the most famous pieces of modern design through the vision of a skateboarder, created by Pierre-André Senizergues and Gil Le Bon De Lapointe. Pierre-André Senizergues is the president and CEO of Sole Technology, parent company of skate apparel fixture Etnies, and Gil Le Bon De Lapointe is a skateboarder and designer. The exhibit pays homage to Case Study House, a famous experimentation in residential architecture, which ran between 1945 until 1966, commissioning major architects of the day, including Richard Neutra, Raphael Soriano, Craig Ellwood, Charles and Ray Eames, Pierre Koenig and Eero Saarinen, "to design and build inexpensive and efficient model homes for the United States residential housing boom."

If you have your sights set on a Le Corbusier or a Philippe Starck but need to collect 80 penny jars before you can call it your own, think about ordering the Avrilloreti Designer Chair Cocktail Napkins ($26), which will cost you less than 30 Sacagawea dollars. If they don't fit the bill, try my Casa Quickie resource, or just make your own designer chair napkins. You might prefer a real LC4 Chaise Lounge ($2,660), but, oh, wouldn't we all?
