New Music Bonanza: Air, Arcade Fire, and More!
As you may have heard, there's a new album from that Arcade Fire band coming out today. But not to be outdone by a bunch of overhyped Canadians, an army of other artists — including !!!, Air, and the Strokes' Albert Hammond Jr. — are also unleashing highly anticipated new CDs today, making this one of the best days for new music so far this year. (Coincidentally, all of these artists' names start with "a," except for !!!, but that one really doesn't count.)
So, rather than my usual Song of the Day, I thought I'd offer you a selection of tracks from the various albums hitting stores today.
Song of the Day: Albert Hammond Jr., "In Transit"
Whether you're waiting anxiously for a new Strokes record or wishing they would just go away, you'll be interested to hear that the band is laying low while guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. pursues his new solo project. Hammond's debut album, Yours to Keep, comes out in the States March 6, and meanwhile, he's touring with Incubus and Bloc Party.
I'm sort of over the Strokes, but damn, can Hammond play an intoxicating guitar.

A whole host of gorgeous stars turned up for the launch of Chanel's Mobile Art pavilion in Central Park, New York yesterday. Agyness Deyn and Pixie Geldof represented the UK at the glamourous do and partied alongside the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Bosworth and the man himself, Karl Lagerfeld. I just love seeing Agy out and about in New York with her beau Albert Hammond Jr, whether they're dressing up for nights out like this, or relaxing in casual clothes for a day out with their pooches.

Agyness Deyn cut a forlorn figure as she strolled around New York City yesterday, as reports suggest the model has split from her rocker Albert Hammond Jr. Apparently it was a mutual decision and the pair want to stay friends, so it sounds like it's amicable. New York Magazine published a relationship obituary reporting the news, and also claimed the couple were never engaged. Let's hope that smoothie and bag of Agent Provocateur goodies helps cheer up Agy.

Hot girls and guys in bands go together like strawberries and cream, so it's no surprise that models and musicians constantly team up for a shot at romance. Agyness Deyn and Albert Hammond Jr are enjoying their summer in New York City at the moment, as you can see from this series of gorgeous photos of the couple eating out and kissing, before Agyness rode off on a classic bicycle. Meanwhile, in London, Mark Ronson played a DJ gig watched lovingly by Daisy Lowe, who left with him at the end of the night.

How cute are these two and their dogs? Agyness Deyn and Albert Hammond Jr were out in New York at the weekend with their adorable canine companions. The couple looked happy, if a little grungy, together as they walked through the streets, stopping on a bench to give their pets a little attention.
