Now we've tackled barking issues on the site in the past, but my new pal, TrèsSugar came to me with one noisy dilemma. Turns out a neighbor has two dogs kept in the backyard at night. However, the two pups don't seem to care for this set-up as they bark or, as she says, one barks and the Pug sounds more like coughing or choking as it tries to chime in.

1 pound finely chopped white chocolate
1 1/2 teaspoons nut or plain oil
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1 1/4 cups shelled pistachio nuts, toasted and papery coating peeled
Equipment: Chocolate thermometer
Tempering the chocolate for the bark requires a double boiler. If you don't have a double boiler, improvise one by using a saucepan and a stainless steel bowl: Nestle the bowl into the saucepan, allowing a few inches of space to remain between the bottom of the bowl and the bottom of the saucepan. Keep an extra bowl of a similar size on hand to transfer the chocolate for cooling.

I first learned of white trash toffee, as it's called (no, I didn't make up the name!), many years ago when a former co-worker brought some in to the office and I couldn't stop putting it in my mouth. When I got my hands on the recipe, which came from her sister-in-law, I was shocked by how fast, easy, and inexpensive it is to put together — and I haven't stopped making it since.
If you have 15 minutes and any manner of chocolate, sugar, nuts, and crisp white cracker on hand, then you are ready to make this addictive homemade gift.

Looked up at the trees in Chabot Park, San Leandro, CA—saw the tangled branches and twigs growing wild in and against each other.

The widow of an Internal Revenue Service employee killed when a disgruntled taxpayer flew his plane into a seven-story building in Austin, Texas, last week is suing the pilot's wife, according to court documents.
Valerie Hunter, the wife of Vernon Hunter, is accusing Sheryl Stack, wife of Andrew Joseph "Joe" Stack III, of negligence, alleging she knew or should have known that her husband was a threat to others and, thus, could have prevented the attack, according to the lawsuit filed Monday in Travis County District Court.
"Stack was threatened enough by Joseph Stack that she took her daughter and stayed at a hotel the night before the plane crash.

When I went on vacation last month, I decided not to pack my trusty Mario Badescu Drying Lotion . It was a gamble, but what were the chances I was even going to get a zit anyway...? Pretty good, apparently.

A friend shared this recipe with me, and it has been a favorite in our family around Christmas since then. It is so easy to make. Santa gets some of this along with his cookies and cocoa.

I love love love this product. Purchased on a whim as I waited in those interminably long Saturday morning lines at Trader Joe's, this is the most amazing shampoo I have ever used, bar none. If Trader Joe's ever goes out of business, I will stock pile this item before they do.
