In the past few weeks, Sarah Palin has been variously described as a diva who engaged in paperwork-throwing tantrums, a shopaholic who spent $150,000 on clothing, a seductress who provocatively welcomed staffers while wearing only a towel, and a “whack-job”—contemporary code for hysteric. Worse, she was accused by a suspiciously gleeful Fox News reporter named Carl Cameron of not knowing Africa was a continent, of being unable to name the members of NAFTA, indeed of being unable to name the countries of North America at all.

Those still worried about Ellen DeGeneres' former dog Iggy can breathe a sigh of relief: The little guy is doing just fine.
The 5-month-old Affenpinscher mix is returning to the spotlight, shooting a new Public Service Announcement for pet adoption awareness — and appears to be very happy.
The dog first made headlines in October after DeGeneres, with the best of intentions, gave the adopted dog away to her hairdresser.

When Sputnik 2's canine passenger (nicknamed "Muttnik" by the media) hit orbit, the Soviet Union grabbed the edge over the U.S. in the space race, a crux of competition during the Cold War.
