Kimpton Hotels runs several upscale, pet friendly hotels around the US as well as some in Western Canada. They often are theme hotels (one in Seattle focuses on wines) and have a spa and many other luxuries that you can't often find with the pet-friendly set. These hotels are beautiful!

I am fairly new to the popsugar community, and I was so excited to see the fairly new out and about travel guide with Petsugar. I recently just started my own blog about dog friendly places in and around the North Georgia area. Athens, Georgia in particular, is a great dog friendly town!

For those of you who don't even want to take a vacation without Fido or Fluff, it's high time you check out Pets Welcome, a website that offers tips, an info exchange and a great route-based search capability that showcases pet-friendly lodgings between your road trip departure point and destination.
All you have to do is input your origin, destination, the maximum number of miles you will allow to search for a pet-friendly lodging off your main route (there's a 2-20 mile breakdown) and of course whether or not you want to avoid highways, toll road or ferry lanes. From there, you'll get a break down of all the hotels, motels and inns that happily welcome four-legged friends.

Finally an online community where it's okay to be a dog and no one's worried if they're too geeky. Launched in 2004, Dogster.com (there's a Catster.com site too for all of you kitty cat lovers) has become one of the top pet destinations online, providing forums, classifieds, diaries, treats, private messaging, Gimme Some Paw, DogsterPlus, photo tagging, themed strolls, pet-friendly travel and a pet-personality matrix for human and canine users.
The creators describe themselves as "dog freaks and computer geeks who wanted a canine sharing application that's truly gone to the dogs."
