Portland man gets probation after stabbing ex-girlfriend's pet fish
By Aimee Green, The Oregonian

A 27-year-old Southeast Portland man who beat his ex-girlfriend and then stabbed her pet fish and left it impaled in her apartment has been sentenced to two years of probation and a psychological evaluation.
An attorney for Donald Earl Fite III said he didn’t want to talk about the details of the assault, but that stabbing the fish was “a very low point” in his client’s life."He is absolutely mortified and ashamed about what he did to the fish," said attorney Tom MacNair today in Multnomah County Circuit Court. Fite had no criminal history and declined to comment, saying only that his attorney had said it all. According to an affidavit filed with the court, Sarah Harris had broken up with Fite, but returned to her East Burnside Street apartment in Portland last July 25 to find Fite lying on her bed. Fite wanted to get back together, but Harris didn't. When she told him she had plans that evening, Harris refused to let her leave the room she was in, the bathroom, according to the affidavit.

50 Emergency Uses for Your Camera Phone by Paul Purcell In an emergency you'll not only need to provide and receive help, but after the event is over, you'll face the prospect of return, repair, and rebuilding. Central to all these activities is communication and documentation. Everything in our society carries a heaping helping of red tape, and disasters are no different.

When Nintendo branded its latest video game technology, the Wii, it must have had families in mind. Moms can do yoga, dads can practice golf swings, teens can bounce to Rock Band, and now the wee ones can get involved with games like Knowledge Adventure's JumpStart's Pet Rescue ($40). Preschool-age tots who are awestruck by their older siblings slinging the remote around the living room can do the same as they search for lost pets in an adventurous learning environment.

I have been VERY busy with my new job at PetCo. So far I am enjoying working there, they (at least my store) take immaculate care of the animals and everyone that I work with is really great!
Another plus besides finally gaining on the money front is that I am so busy running around at work that I am staying in good shape even when I don't get a chance to jog.

HOSPITAL TO VISITOR: NO HORSING AROUND
Sunday, March 23, 2008
By The Associated Press
LIHUE, Hawaii — A horse is a horse, of course, of course, but the one brought to visit a patient at Wilcox Memorial Hospital was the wrong horse.
Hospital spokeswoman Lani Yukimura says a drunken man brought the horse to visit an ailing relative earlier this month, thinking it would cheer up the patient to see his stallion.
Yukimura says the man and the horse rode an elevator up to the third floor, where they were met and stopped by security personnel.

Yoko Ono wasn’t the only woman in John Lennon’s life after the Beatles. Lennon’s lover of nearly two years, May Pang, has just released a book of photos chronicling the time she spent with John while he and Yoko were on the outs. The book, called “Instamatic Karma: Photographs of John Lennon” features intimate photos of John doing everyday things such as taking a trip to Disneyland, playing with his pet cats and his son Julian, and hanging out around New York City.
