I know that some of you who subscribe to this suite already know about my background in design, but I wanted to take it a step further and share with you the designers, artists, and architects who have made the biggest impact on my design philosophy. This will be called the "Spotlight" blog - and we're starting off with my absolute favorite designer, Barbara Barry.

Natalie Dessay (born Nathalie Dessaix, 19 April 1965, in Lyon) is a French soprano. She dropped the "h" in her first name in honor of Natalie Wood when she was in grade school and subsequently simplified the spelling of her surname.
In her youth, Dessay had intended to be a ballet dancer, and then an actress.

Renata Scotto was born in Savona, Italy. She made her operatic debut in her home town on Christmas Eve of 1952 at the age of 18 in front of a sold-out house as Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata. The next day, she made her 'official' opera debut at the Teatro Nuovo in Milan as Violetta.

Soprano Elza van den Heever, a native of Johannesburg, South Africa is currently in her second year at the San Francisco Opera Center’s Adler Fellowship Program, where she will be appearing in the San Francisco Opera’s production of Der Rosenkavalier, conducted by music director, Donald Runnicles. José Plácido Domingo (born January 21, 1941), better known as Plácido Domingo, is a world-renowned operatic tenor, known for his versatile and strong voice, possessing a ringing and dramatic tone throughout its range.
