From HSUS.org
Proposition 2, The Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act, is a modest initiative that would give calves, pigs, and chickens in California room to stand up, lie down, turn around, and fully extend their limbs. It's endorsed by The Humane Society of the United States, the California Veterinary Medical Association, the Center for Food Safety, the Consumer Federation of America, and dozens of newspapers from The New York Times to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Here's what Prop 2 will do for the animals and citizens of California:
FACT: Prop 2 will eliminate the worst cruelties inflicted on animals living on factory farms.

This is from an E-mail I received from the Humane Society and thought it appropriate to share with this group:
Today is National Call-In Day for Downed Farm Animals! Our
recent undercover investigation of the cruel treatment of cows
at a California slaughter plant has sparked renewed attention to
the downer issue, with several Congressional hearings and bills
introduced. Now it's essential that we keep Congress focused on
the issue and ensure they take action.

Alright I have to say that the lame apps on Facebook drive me freak 'n nuts.
"Poke this" & "Animal farm".....those two phrases should not be in the same sentence!
But then when I got to really missing that old feature on TeamSugar which let us "announce" to certian people who may be interested in a blog entry... a "heads-up...please go read my blog" thingie...and I cannot convince the powers that be here on sugar to bring it back....I began to be a bit creative.

I am an animal lover and I know that I sort of went into my feelings about them before in another blog, but I thought I would write another one. Just in case you do not know who PETA is you can go to www.peta.org to get the full aspect on PETA, but be warned, there is some graphic material on there. Basically PETA is "People for the ethical treatment of animals", which basically they state that animals should not be used for any kind of meat, fur, or be used in any way such as pulling farm equipment, having jobs, etc.

A pen containing a sow and her litter of 10 piglets attracts a lot of attention. Health officials are asking visitors to the Nebraska State Fair to wash their hands frequently and avoid contact like this if they've been sick.
Most of the concern about swine flu has focused on preventing humans from spreading it to others.

Obama, the Mortal
By Charles Krauthammer (Washington Post)
What happened to President Obama? His wax wings having melted, he is the man who fell to earth. What happened to bring his popularity down further than that of any new president in polling history save Gerald Ford (post-Nixon pardon)?
