Right now a popular question in animal sheltering is ‘Are they a No Kill Shelter?’ Although a common question, many people don’t really understand what’s behind it. While the euthanasia rate in the US has dropped dramatically – from around 350,000,000 a year to 3,000,000 a year – there are factors into how those numbers get reported and why these animals are being euthanized. The bigger question is not if a shelter is No Kill, but if the shelter is Public or Private.

David Spade has donated $10,000 to save the Humane Society of the White Mountains in his mother's town of Lakeside, Arizona, a source tells Usmagazine.com.

In shelter work, we see many people and situations come through our doors. One of the biggest issues is that most people don't know what to do, or what to expect when they find a 'stray' cat, dog, ferret, dove, tortoise, tarantula, etc. Yes, we have seen at least TWO stray tarantulas since I've been there!

Ok, so this is kind of a sad story to hear on Friday but it's really been on my mind. I have a deep love for all animals and this just breaks my heart. On the news last night here in Nashville they did a story on our local shelter.

Thanks to his clear blue eyes, Twilight's Kellan Lutz definitely qualifies as dreamy, and on the big screen, he's straight up vampire eye candy – in my book at least.
The 24-year-old North Dakota native might not be the biggest heartthrob to appear in New Moon, but he surely has his own set of devoted fans. And for all you dog lovers, Kellan (who is officially single) has a soft spot for canines too; he adopted his dog Kola from a local animal shelter.
