Make Your Picasso Pooch a DIY Coloring Bed

I loooved anything I could customize from mugs to t-shirts since I was a crafty child. And, even years later, I'm craving this super cute DIY bed (and don't think I wouldn't have wanted one then . . .if it had been around, anyway). Now coming in two sizes for $55 or $75, the Picasso Pooch DIY Bed is great for any kids (or kids at heart) to give Fido a bed he'll be proud to lay his head on. Since it comes with a rainbow of fabric markers you can show him how much you care in bright, bold designs. In fact, I'm thinking of ordering one for North to keep until I have (human) babies to help make it!

Street Team: Sock-turned-Sweater for a Lil Pooch

Yay, it's yet another great idea shared by a TeamSugar member! DeJaVuE found this clothing idea on the internet, and decided to test it out on her four-pound-pup, Belle. Even though she says she didn't spend that much time on it, I think it looks pretty sweet! To see how she made it (and another cute piccy), read more.
First up, take a nice warm, fluffy sock, cut off the toe section and any additional material to make it no longer than your pup's body in length. Next, cut arm holes at the right spot for your pet's front paws. Oh, and don't throw away the scrap from the toes, you can cut two holes in it and she's ready to model a lil hat as well! Now, North is a tad too chubs for a sock sweater but, for those of you with small pooches, I think it's a neat alternative to store-bought sweaters – just think what you could do with ribbons, buttons, or other embellishments!

When do dogs usually go gray?
Myko is my first dog, so I'm learning as I go...
He's only 4 1/2, but I noticed right around when he turned 4 that he's starting to go gray, just his face so far. I really hope that it's not indicative of a shorter life span

The Don'ts of Visiting a New Baby in the Hospital

The first few days after a baby's birth are like living in a bubble so hospital visitors shouldn't burst it. Doting mothers stare at their new bundles of joy in awe and focus on if and when their babies are eating, sleeping and pooping. The following is a list of off-limit topics and behaviors for those heading to the maternity ward.

Don't snap mad photos without permission - especially if the mama has a visible catheter bag or stained sheets.
Don't stare or ask to touch her brand-new Dolly Parton boobs. News flash: engorged breasts hurt!
Don't ask if she had her tubes tied or if her hubby is getting a vasectomy.
Don't discuss the family's carbon footprint.
Don't ask if there's any way the baby's conehead can be molded.
No matter how big the baby's head is, don't speculate about the size of her pelvis or hips.
Don't refer to the child as having "elf ears."
Don't attribute every baby smile to gas.
Don't mention that you think today's parents don't have a clue.
Don't ask when they are going to try for another one!
Don't question if the husband is really the father since the baby looks nothing like him!
Don't try to persuade the parents to change the baby's name by coming up with all the awful nicknames you think the child faces.
Don't talk about everything that is wrong with the world.
Unless she offers, don't ask the degree of her tear.
Don't exclaim, "Oh, I love your mom pooch!" It's not like she can speed up a contracting uterus.

New Dog Alert: Miley Cyrus Welcomes Pup Mate

There's a new man in Miley Cyrus's life! The Disney starlet was snapped toting a fluffy new pup through West Hollywood this weekend, and on Sunday, she took to her official blog to dish about her new dog, named Mate. "It's so great that Mate is a puppy so I can take him everywhere," she wrote. "But it won't be long until he's his full size!" A 9-week-old shepherd puppy, Mate could grow up to 125 lbs., which Cyrus jokes will make it "a bit more difficult to fit him in my Prius." The pup was a gift from Cyrus's parents, who wanted her to have a German shepherd, just like dad Billy Ray's pooch, Tex. The singer-actress is already mom to maltipoo Sophie. Cyrus says Mate "woke [her] up with kisses" on Sunday, and spent time with Billy Ray and Tex before joining her on a shopping trip. Welcome to Hollywood, Mate!

I admit it: sometimes I dress up my pooch for picture's sake. (Can you blame me?) Jan. 14 was officially the ~~excuse~~ holiday for this hilarious pastime, and I hope you all snapped photos of your pets wearing something funny or just cute.

Even if you haven't done it yet, use this long weekend to take a pic of your pet in (non-Halloween) costumes - just like the great pictures you already added to the PetSugar's Dress-Up Extravaganza group for October's holiday and of snowy fun, I want to see your best takes of pets with outfits on.
