By CLARK HOYT -- NY Times Public Editor
When the Times brought Hoyt on, it described him as 'readers' representative', to respond to complaints and comments from the public and monitors the paper's journalistic practices. This is his op-ed on the latest 'detainees returning to battlefield' claims.

There have been rumblings for some time that Katie Holmes couldn’t possibly have run the full NY Marathon during the day and gone out with heels on that night. Katie drew some skeptics when she was seen at her husband’s side that very night wearing heels at the premiere of his film Lions for Lambs. She could easily obtain custom made sneakers as well as those insanely expensive Louboutins that are made from a mold of your foot, so maybe her feet were immune to the wear and tear that plague average runners.

Batman fans and fellow critics are firing back, saying he just didn’t “get” the film. Edelstein gave the film a negative review due to violence and “morbid” factors that seem related to Ledger’s untimely death:
The momentum doesn’t carry through, though.

The circumstances of the shootings and the trial that convicted Slick Rick, aka Ricky Walters, have always been suspect. Rick served his time in prison for the shooting, but as he was born in London he is still subject to deportation under tougher laws enforced after September 11.

Thanks to steen for sharing the cutest website we've seen in a while. Earlier this week a New York City man saw the woman of his dreams on the subway and went home and created the aptly named NY Girl of My Dreams webpage.
The site like a creative Craigslist Missed Connections post — he drew a squiggly drawing of the woman, described her as having "fancy braided hair," "rosy cheeks" and "blue gym shorts" and said she was writing in a journal while on the train.
