Things got off to a very good start today with Paramount Pictures as the first panel to kick off Comic-Con in San Diego Convention Center's monstrous Hall H. They brought with them a slew of goodies, including some casting announcements and footage.
Hot Rod
Paramount had so much to offer in their 2 hour slot that everyone was a bit rushed.

I seriously don’t think any writers returned to work after the writers strike, because Hollywood has officially run out of ideas. There are no more, because we are now getting a “reboot” of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
This time even Joss Whedon had the sense to just say no.

Modern innovations inspired by the old "Star Trek" show: the cell phone, the flat-screen TV, and the Obama presidency.
The latter occurred to me as I watched J.J. Abrams dandy new "Star Trek" movie, which arrives amid polls showing that 80 percent of Americans continue to find President Obama personally likable.

Randy Pausch, the Carnegie Mellon computer-sciences professor who became an Internet sensation for his upbeat and funny "last lecture" while battling terminal pancreatic cancer, died Friday at his Virginia home at the age of 47, USA Today reports.
In the September 2007 lecture, entitled "Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," an upbeat Pausch commented on everything from education and leadership to dating and his love of Star Trek. The speech – part of the "Last Lecture" series in which speakers imagine they're giving their final lecture before dying – proved very popular on YouTube, leading to a best-selling book and Pausch appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show and being named Person of the Week by ABC News With Charles Gibson.

I was thinking about what to post today as we wait for the puck to drop at Wachovia Center in Philadelphia tonight. The Flyers return home trailing in this series to the young, effervescent, playmaking Pittsburgh Penguins and need to find inspiration in some of their unforgettable playoff performances!
I love watching the young talent in Pittsburgh, but more than anything, I want to see a hard-fought, long series.
