An essential duty of kitty ownership is cleaning up the poop - can't be avoided. Now there are plenty of pricey products that come highly recommended (like the Litter Robot); however, community member Arcsis shared her love for an affordable alternative in the Street Team -this Omega Paw Roll 'n Clean Litter Box ($29):

My favorite thing about this is you never have to touch, or even come close to touching waste. You fill it with your favorite scooping litter, roll it upside down, roll back and empty the drawer. The end. Litter changed. I dump mine into scented garbage bags and toss in the bathroom trash.

I've read a few reviews about litter slipping out when you roll it. You need to put it together correctly, and make sure the clips are secure before you roll. My only issue is that small litter particles and/or dust does slip through the seam, but I need to sweep the stray litter from kitty's paws on the floor anyway, so it's a tiny, tiny problem. Not worth docking this wonderful product a star.

Swoop In to Scoop the Poop

If you don't like handling poop - but don't hate it enough to buy a PooTrap - here's another way for you to be a hands-off, responsible dog owner. The Swoop Dog Poop Scooper ($20) and Swoop Mini Pooper Scooper ($18) lets a plastic mechanical hand do your dirty work. Fitting either their special biodegradable bags, or your ordinary grocery store variety, attach the sack on the bottom and it grabs and bags the waste keeping your hands completely clean.

Bare Bones: Dog Poo Bags

I was perfectly happy carrying around my BioBags, or even just grabbing an old shopping bag for quick potty walks, until I saw these super cute (and biodegradable!) Dog Poo Bags from a Berlin based design firm Jungeschachtel! How adoro are they? Like little poopie take out bags. . .

And, if picking up poop is one of your least favorite things to do, you might just make it through without gagging, since the tops of these bags consist of a cardboard like material that lets you pick up the "deposit" without having to feel your pup's waste. At $30 for a pack of 16 bags, I might have to order some of these as gifts – the hilarious messages on the front are totally the selling point for me!

Found! Kelly Osbourne Loves Gooby, Mascot, and Sporky

Attention, attention, new puppy alert! Kelly Osbourne has been spotted over the last couple weeks with this lil furball! The Shiba Inu already has her (his?) wings taking plane trips with mom. Looks like Kelly wasted no time in getting this pup the coolest gear. What products did they travel with? Find out below.

Even though temperatures don't drop that much in LA, the Gooby Winter Freedom Harness ($30) is a snuggly alternative to traditional reins made of synthetic deer skin and lined with faux fur for an off-to-the-mountains look.
Then there's no matchy matchy necessary here as the pup also sports a Mascot Old School Repp Lead ($42) in one of six preppy color combos.
Lastly, she adds a pink piggy to the leash. While Sporky ($15) may appear to be a poop bag holder to an untrained eye, it's actually a dispenser for wet wipes, great for keeping fingers (and paws) clean on the plane.

Pampered Pals: Litter-Garage

When I first spotted this on moderncat, I thought it was a prototype for a futuristic creation. However, much to my surprise, the Litter-Garage ($180) already exists. According to the manufacturer's website, it only takes an hour of installation (provided you have an existing cat door) and is a safe way to stash the stinky box in the garage without worrying about a feline taking a nap under your car. And how well-prepared you'll be come clean up time – there's space for a scoop, waste bags, and even antibacterial handwipes, too. Kitty's poo stays out of sight, while your lil kitty-poo stays on the top of your mind.

Amanda's Cav Cutie Charlie Always Has Bags on Board

Charlie's still leading Amanda Bynes on all sorts of adventures – the duo was spotted over the weekend leaving a Beverly Hills salon. Amanda's sporting a nice blowout . . . and her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel looks pretty spiffy, too!At first glance, I thought this was the same Bags on Board carrier he sported at the Peninsula, but it's totally different (see the silvery details). Now the Flexi Comfort leash includes a similar hydrant-style – but with this spring clasp so, when she rotates between her pooch's many leashes, she can bring the dispenser, too. Perfect. Do you keep your dog's waste bag holder permanently attached to one leash, not connected at all, or switch it up like Amanda does? Share in your comments below!

To the Rescue: Composting Dog Poop?

Of course any responsible pet owner knows to pick up after a dog, and there are still plenty of signs around reminding us all the same! When trying to live a little more green, opting for those biodegradable bags is a great start, but what about composting the waste afterwards? According to the experts at Canada's Office of Urban Agriculture, there's a (fairly) simple way to begin composting dog poop in your own backyard.

Take an old garbage can and drill a dozen or so holes in the side.
Use a keyhole saw to cut out the bottom and remove it.
Dig a hole in the ground that's deep enough for the garbage can.
Toss some rocks or gravel in the hole for drainage and position the garbage can on top so it's a little higher than the soil level.
Place the lid back on top.
When you scoop some poop, put it in the hole and sprinkle in some septic starter (like Septonic) and add some water.
The waste decomposes and enters the subsoil – remember, it is not used on garden beds!

I've already shared other eco-tastic tips, but here's one that takes a bit more effort. So what do you think – is throwing a biodegradable bag in the garbage where you'll stop or would you take it to the next level?

Are You Calling My Scoopbox Your Very Own?

Here's a product I literally had to see to believe . . . especially when this dog-waste picker-up promised "no bending and no touching"! My Scoopbox is a disposable, biodegradable alternative to a bag – simply unfold, place over poo, step on the box, and lift with a string. It's easier to understand when you see it for yourself so check out the video below.

Like the gimmicky Sha-Poopie, the concept is great, but I'm not so sure how it would unfold in real-life situations – what's your take?
