Zak George Says He Can Teach an Old Dog New Tricks

It's never been easier to parlay a great blog into a movie deal, or in the case of Zak George, flip a YouTube hit into a pet-tastic TV show. At this year's TCAs (a massive television conference happening right now in LA), Animal Planet introduced us to their new show called SuperFetch, which is hosted by extreme dog trainer Zak George. Apparently, Zak can teach your dog any trick and is taking his show on the road to prove it.

But Zak isn't just another dog lover - he and his border collie Venus took the top spot in five extreme dog-trick competitions in their first year of competing, all thanks to Zak's unique way of training. His show debuts this October as he travels around the country teaching normal dogs to do amazing tricks. Want to hear about some of the tricks he can teach your old (or young) dog to perform? Zak's show promises to show us breathtaking stunts, some of which I can't wait to see unfold during the season:

In SuperFetch, Zak will show pet parents step by step how to teach their animals new and unbelievable tricks. From finding the TV remote to picking up the dinner dishes to learning how to bowl, there is nothing that Zak isn't willing to take on and teach a pet to do.

Tune In Tonight: Kathy Griffin Visits the Dog Whisperer

Tonight's new episode of Cesar Millan's Dog Whisperer will feature comedienne Kathy Griffin, who is on a quest to get her two beautiful, but mischievous rescue dogs to behave and curb their barking.

Her dogs, Chance, an 8-year-old male Lab and chow mix, and Pom Pom, a 3-year-old female Lab mix, are both regulars on her show My Life on the D List . . . and give the impression they flunked puppy school big time. The dogs don't come when she calls, and they get so territorial around other dogs that it's impossible to get their attention or keep them from barking, according to Critics and Monsters. The show airs at 9 p.m. ET, so set your TiVo for all the antics.

The Greatest American Dog Dressed to Impress at the TCAs!

If you've been following the paths of Pop and Buzz, you'll know they were down in LA at the TCA Press Tour that wrapped up today. With panels and parties with all the major networks, they've met some very cool people, including several contestants from the Greatest American Dog. The five dogs present (left to right: Ezzie, Preston, Beacon, Tillman, and Bella Starlet) were just hanging out in the cabana with their owners all relaxed . . . and not at all fazed by the attention!

And how excited was I (read: very) when Pop passed along some cute candids she took when meeting Jarod, the show's host, and several of the furry contestants?! Check our exclusive pics out when you read more.

Have You Ever Watched a TV Show for the Animals?

I definitely know I notice pets in films, but I think I've got good recall for pets on sitcoms or reality shows, too – many times that's what keeps me tuning in week after week. Have you ever watched a TV show more for the animals than the two-legged stars? I definitely tuned into Frasier for Eddie more than the actual plotline, and I remember when the show was on (and "Moose" was still alive), he got more fan mail than anyone else on the show. Another Sneak Peek at the Greatest American Dog!

Remember when I hinted about that show Greatest American Dog? Well, I've got some more info courtesy of my pal, BuzzSugar. This new reality/ competition series pits 12 teams of pups and owners – with varying levels of training – against each other in games that test the training abilities and train-ability of the duos. Oh, yeah and they get to live together, too. Awesome. To top it all off, the winning team will walk away with a $250,000 cash prize – that's lots of doggie treats! Jarod Miller, who you may recognize from Petfinder, will host this show premiering July 10 (8:00-9:00 p.m., EDT/PDT) on CBS. Get a sneak peek in the promo video below.

Housecat Housecall Premieres This Saturday!

That's right, doggies aren't the only ones getting their own reality show! Stay tuned for a new show on Animal Planet called Housecat Housecall, where experienced vets help real families solve issues with their furry friends. I haven't gotten a sneak peek at the series yet, but I'm imagining it to be a bit like Supernanny for the four-legged parents who need HELP. Find out more, and catch a glimpse of its first feline star when you read more.

Experienced vets including Dr. Katrina Warren, an Australian celebrity vet (seen up top), and her colleagues Dr. Debbie Horwitz and Dr. Stacy Fuchino, help real families tackle those problems we know all too well like excessive licking and unwanted early morning wake-up calls. This is Obi-Wan, the feline that will star in the first episode – he's a cutey, wonder what his problem is? Not all kitties love the camera like Milo, so I'll bet it will be a tad tricky to catch the cats in "the act." Housecat Housecall airs on Animal Planet on Saturdays at 9 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Sundays. Thinking up all those pets from classic TV got me wondering if I could possibly name a fave of all time. I thought I'd open it up to all of you who had such great ideas for movie star pets – do you simply adore any animals from TV, past or present? When I'm battling a bit of insomnia like I have been lately, sometimes I just need to curl up on my couch with some classic TV . . . and last night it was Full House. And, just my luck, it happened to actually be an episode where their furry pooch made an appearance! This triggered the memory of a Golden Retriever from one of my favorite TV shows as a kid (Punky Brewster!) . . . and all those other running furballs we now see on reruns. Do You Have America's Greatest Dog?

If you've always wanted to be on TV, and you have a pup with some serious talent, then have I got a contest for you! I just stumbled across CBS's casting call for their new reality show tentatively called America's Greatest Dog, that puts dogs' (and owners') talents in the spotlight as they try to nab the title of Top Dog. That means, if I know anything about reality television, there will be drama, a few brawls (more likely between humans than canine), and a really swank house. I can't wait!
