Tweet tweet, I'm on Twitter, North's on Twitter, are you on Twitter? For the still unfamiliar, it's a super easy outlet for that stream-of-consciousness pet voice and an addictive way to keep updated and update pals with thoughts, plans, and more.

Twittering pets doesn't seem to be a trend that's ending anytime soon so check out these twitter-inspired goodies I've hunted down. (No birds were harmed in the writing of this post.) For those tweetly-obsessed, there are a couple shirts that let his walktime pals know he's in the tech loop - otherwise, just peep other little birdy items. So subtle.

Trend Setters: Shikisai

I love the simple style of the Shikisai. While they've got sketches for adults and toddlers, check out their pet line (extra-small to large). Using just black ink on white background, the shirts all feature line drawings of ordinary objects. While I'm not sure I've got the extra $30 at the moment, put this one on my list for things I'll invest in when the economy picks up again. I'm doodling just thinking about it.

Trend Setters: Furry Streakers

Well, well, well, the first question that came to my mind when I saw these pups (after why) was how, 'cause I know there's at least someone out there wondering how to follow the trend of these pooches snapped in LA. In fact, the streaked pups remind me of lil Preston's way of standing out on the set of Greatest American Dog. Since North already has a dark mask, ears, and back half, he's not quite a candidate but if you think this is cool not cruel, I've found the products for you.

For $25, you can pick up a tub of non-toxic, semi-permanent dye specifically formulated for pets in a gel product that's less messy than liquid alternatives. Coming in nine shades, the colors even include black if you fancy making a Maltese look more Boston Terrier or even Dalmatian while you're at it!

Trend Setters: Crewmutts Get True Blue For Fall

Brrr, can you feel that nip in the air? I know North can so I want my peppy, preppy pup to take advantage of furry Fall fashions – cooler colors and warm knits. This season's Crewmutts (from J. Crew) line now offers some great blue totes, textured sweaters, and darker madras styles. You may recall their summery madras of seasons past, but the latest versions also have a removable sherpa lining for additional warm cozies heading straight into Winter.

Trend Setters: Aluminum Wowo Bowls Are Wow

Now I've been a fan of the well-designed Wowo feeders for quite some time now, and I am totally digging the new metallic models. There's something about the tiny circles and glossy red underbelly that makes my heart pitter-patter.

The Aluminum Wowo 2 Series HD Feeders ($165 and up) still come with removable stainless-steel bowls and in three heights, but now boast a pebbled or hammered aluminum veneer option, in addition to the four wood finishes. Fear not cat lovers, this series has wider and shallower dishes making them better for kitty whiskers, too.

Trend Setters: Faux Ostrich For Furballs

Seems like Antonio Sabato's cute pooch isn't the only one getting in on the faux ostrich fabric! Now I like the nubby design but would never invest in the real thing. Thankfully, more and more designers are creating convincing patterns inspired by that fabric, and I found quite a few bags and collars in the mock material below.

Trend Setters: Madras Crewmutts

North's def a prepster (when he's not being a little bit punk rock, that is). Of all the fun styles from polka dots to camo, one pattern noticeably absent from his collection is madras – not only does it remind me of boat trips on the east coast, but it's a nice way to inject a summer style to pet essentials. Somewhere between patchwork and plaid, this fabric is super casual for those warm afternoons on the Cape. I personally love the Crewmutts line by J. Crew with three different color combinations in authentic cotton madras from India. The small bed is preptastically perfect for little crewmutts (or large crewcats) with this design on one side and acrylic sherpa on the other and, dare I say, it pairs nicely with matching leather-backed leashes and collars that you'll see when you read more.
