At the Movies: Hole in the Paper Sky

I've already mentioned another film on a controversial topic making its way around the festival circuit, and here is another: now it's animal testing. But this isn't a documentary showing you disturbing secret footage shot guerrilla style about things that go on behind closed doors. This film is brought to you by Jessica Biel, one of my favorite dog lovers! It's called Hole in the Paper Sky, and I can only imagine how difficult it must have been for Jessica to make considering the horrible feelings I've got in my stomach . . . just from watching the trailer!

The 30-minute-long short has already taken in two awards at the Beverly Hills Shorts Festival for Best Drama and Best Director, and I'm sure it will rack up plenty of others on its national tour. For festival dates where you can catch Hole in the Paper Sky check out Jessica's Myspace blog.

Movie Trailer Sneak Peek: Hotel For Dogs

This Hotel for Dogs isn't a swank, professionally-run doggie facility, but instead one started by two driven foster children just looking for a good home for their pooch, Friday. With Nickelodeon stars Emma Roberts (from Unfabulous) and Jake T. Austin (the voice of Diego on Go, Diego, Go!), the duo finds an abandoned hotel and their imaginations run wild! Check out the trailer to get a sneak peek – eyes peeled for a cutie pie smooshy named Georgia! – because the movie won't hit big screens 'til Jan. 16, 2009!

Tote a Dog With a Hog?

Just when I thought I had heard of everything, I located pet trailers. I'm thinking of driving up to Napa this long weekend, but somehow still can't imagine dragging North along literally . . . with his own hitch. The Wags trailers are completely custom built according to your pup's needs and desires from carpet choices to sliding windows and solar vents. Although I see no reason why these products couldn't be attached to a car, they seem to be geared more towards motorcyclists. I'm not exactly a Harley type of girl (the chopper's noise bothers me), and I can't imagine my doggie would want to ride so close to it either. Even ignoring its $4,000 price tag, I wouldn't dream of having my pet outside the car, but am I just too attached to my little guy? Would your pup enjoy the view from back there?

At the Movies: Wiener Takes All

If there were any event I might want to see in person besides the World's Ugliest Dog Competition, it'd be a screening of Wiener Takes All! I've been hearing rumblings for weeks now about this new "dogumentary" that takes a behind-the-scenes look at competitive dachshund racing, and I finally found the trailer. While I definitely don't support dog racing of any kind, I've heard the film is packed with juicy bits of controversy – lying, cheating, steroids! – about this, well, controversial sport.

Since the dogs are oh-so-adoro, and they've been selling out all screenings during their recent Film Festival tour, I have a feeling Wiener Takes All must pack a pretty powerful pawful of information to be so popular. Check out the cute trailer for this indie film when you read more.

Tune In: New Documentary Explores the "Cat Ladies" Concept

Misunderstood like no other, "crazy cat lady" is a cultural stereotype that plagues women of a certain age with a few too many feline companions. My single pals with kitties often confess they don't share this fact with prospective beaus off the bat, just in case he jumps to an unfair conclusion.

Enter a new documentary, Cat Ladies - it shows four unique situations where women have "lives and self-worth have become intractably linked to cats" and aims to bring awareness to this phenomenon. We've just got the trailer for now but, when it's released, will you tune in?

Bring Home One of the Furry Faces From Hotel For Dogs!

Since scoping the trailer for the upcoming Hotel for Dogs film, I couldn't wait to learn the names of all the four-legged cast members we spotted (refresh your memory here). A couple of the film's human stars – Jake T. Austin and Emma Roberts – made a special stop earlier this week to promote the movie and show a whole line of special-edition stuffed animals at FAO Schwarz.

In addition to ones depicting Friday, Romeo and Juliet seen here, check out the cute toys to treat kids this Holiday season – let them get all their cuddles in while waiting for the film to open in January.

Disney Releases Special Edition 101 Dalmatians DVD

I’ve always been fascinated by Dalmatians: They’re high-energy, they’re trivia makers (no other purebred dog breed features distinctive spotted markings!) and, they were made infamous in one of my favorite pet flicks.

March 4 Disney will release the original classic animated film 101 Dalmatians from the legendary Vault for the first time on two disc platinum edition DVD. It includes pawesome bonus features including the “Virtual Dalmatians” game where you can adopt, train and play with your very own puppy.

The film was produced by Walt Disney and one of the directors was Wolfgang Reitherman (he also directed the animal-friendly Jungle Book) but it’s the first time that that the film has been released this decade.

This platinum edition is only available for a limited time and features a completely restored picture and sound that is sure to capture the attention of a new generation of Dalmatian lovers.

Jess Still Brunette, But Can't Deny Her Blonde Ambition

Jessica looked ridiculous channeling her inner Rainbow Brite in NYC this week. Thankfully she did lose the unnecessary extensions she wore to the Costume Institute Gala Monday night. Jessica is gearing up to promote her movie Blonde Ambition, but she isn't about to get back to her roots just yet. As we know, she thinks the darker color reflects who she is now. We know Jess can't entirely avoid her blonde reputation especially now that we've seen our first look at her upcoming movie with Luke Wilson. After checking out the trailer we're just wondering whether Luke read the script or not. Seriously, what was he thinking?

Rachel Bilson's Jump to the Big Screen

Rachel Bilson was carrying her Thurman Murman again around L.A. yesterday, but it looks like she eventually got the hang of that leash. We've been pretty obvious about gushing over Rachel's upcoming appearance on Chuck, but now we've got even more to look forward to. Buzz has your first look at Jumper, the movie that made Rachel and Hayden Christensen fast friends and maybe more. The trailer looks pretty futuristic and Hayden-centered, but we love to promote cute Rachel, even in a supporting role.

Sienna is Ready for Her Interview

Sienna Miller was busy taking her doggies Porgy and Bess out for a walk in London this week but she'll be in the states soon to promote her new film Interview with Steve Buscemi. In the movie, which premiered at Sundance (where she got cozy with new Daddy Diddy), Sienna plays a famous actress who is interviewed by a political reporter (Buscemi) who has never seen any of her work.
