And the obsession with Spring continues! The Bay Area's Toss Designs has just come out with messenger style laptop bags in light, bright, and unabashedly fun designs. And I like that they're messenger-style, because my poor put-upon shoulders are beginning to revolt (and stoop) against my heavy-bag habits.

This is the laptop bag I want to grab on a sunny day and take to the park with my flip flops and sunglasses on!

My absolute favorite is the green-and-white bag - wait, no, it's the pink and green bag! I can't choose!

Fashion Week: Let the Animal Out of Baby

I remember seeing these darling animal print moccasins ($42 – $44) when I was pregnant and swore I would buy them if I had a baby girl. Well, now I am eating my words because I missed the boat. My daughter's one and the precious footwear only comes in size 0–6 months.

If you know a pregnant mama who is expecting a girl, these fab shoes are sure to be a hit at her baby shower. The festive prints are adorably highlighted with bright contrasting stitching and lining. Oh, how I wish they came in my size!

I know I'm not the only one with travel on the mind now with Summer upon us. Toss Designs is a one-stop shop for uplifting travel gear, home goodies and pet stuff. The designs are intended for a "life-on-the-go" gal with its innovative styles, quality materials and updated basics. With sassy prints like animal print, polka dots and cotton candy stripes these designs are also very well priced! Lacoste Fall 2012

If the snow outside wasn't enough for NYFW attendees, Felipe Oliveira Baptista provided a few snowflakes of his own for Lacoste's Fall runway show this morning at Lincoln Center. As fake snow blew into the audience, Oliveira Baptista set the tone for his sporty chic ski-inspired line. Mixing in the old - Oliveira Baptista referenced uniforms the brand designed for France's 1966 national ski team - with the new, the designer conceived a smart mix of body-conscious pieces fitting for any après-ski occasion. One can easily head to the slopes, or to the cabin, in one of Oliveira Baptista's rugby-meets-ski minidresses and jumpsuits or sport-striped leggings paired with chic oversized parkas and coats. Leather quilted vests and jackets injected a luxurious touch to the overt sportif theme. With a play on fashionable function, Oliveira Baptista experimented with zippers, some of which opened up all the way up to the shoulders to replicate the look of a cardigan tossed over your shoulder, while others served as pockets for hoods disguised as a stylish oversized collar. Best Apps and Tools For Serious Photographers

Serious photography requires a serious camera, but that doesn't mean you have to be chained to a laptop or desktop to process them. Paul Pierson, app designer and photo nerd, tossed his laptop aside for six months in order to find out if the iPad and iOS apps could handle a professional photo work flow. He found that the iPad is actually quicker and more efficient in processing photos than the traditional setup of a computer and Photoshop software, not to mention a lot less expensive.

At this year's Macworld, Paul shared some of his favorite tools and apps to help you create a love match between your DSLR and iPad. First tip? Get a Card Reader from Photojojo ($30) so you can get those beautiful images captured on your DSLR to your iPad and, thus, your camera apps. Duh. Also you'll probably want an iPad with lots of storage - 64GB ($700), please.

Load up your iPad with the apps below for professional photographers, and experiment with more than one to create stunning images with less equipment.

Sunseeker ($5) - Helps you find where the sun is, or it will be, with the help of augmented reality. Great for landscape photos.

ioShutter ($70, coming Feb. 12) - Turns your iPhone into an intervalometer. This tool plugs into your iPhone and SLR, allowing you to fire your SLR again and again with the app and help you create beautiful time-lapse sequences.

Ollo Clip ($70) - This clip-on lens gives your iPhone or iPad an advantage with three different lenses built right in - fish-eye, wide angle, and macro.

ACDSee Camera Flash ($1) - Brings out details in underexposed images.

Snapseed ($5) - Won Apple's App of the Year because of its variety of filters, edit tools, and selective adjust tools like edge detection that applies changes to objects within the perimeter.

Whether you're in need of a major overhaul or just a mini makeover, you can follow these six easy steps to create a clean, clutter-free desk space.

Clear it all out. Before you can arrange your things or add new supplies, you'll need to take stock of what you already have at your desk. Begin by emptying any drawers and pulling folders from the shelves. As you remove the items, sort them into categories: keep, toss, and undecided. Set the undecided pieces aside to deal with later.
Sort by type. Divide the keep pile into loose papers, folders, tools, and personal items. Designate specific drawers or shelves for each category before moving forward, and remember to arrange them in a way that's tailored to your work habits.
Deal with the paper situation. Every piece of paper should be put into a folder or file, even if it's just a "deal with later" folder that you check at the end of each day. Loose items can get lost, so it's important to create a space for every document.

From My Kitchen: Basil and Blood Orange Salad

We've got a new partnership with Padma Lakshmi! The host of the Emmy-winning Top Chef, writer, and designer started Padma Lakshmi, a social-networking site that celebrates our favorite topics including food adventures, recipes, and party planning. She'll be dishing up goodies for us here on YumSugar monthly. Today Padma shares a unique citrus salad from her cookbook that combines basil with in-season blood oranges.

I first tasted a version of this salad on a farm at the base of the Alpujarra mountains in Spain, while filming my documentary "Planet Food" for the Food Network. A sweet woman named Mercedes cooked all day long while her husband, Paco, tended the animals. The salad is not only glorious to eat but beautiful to look at. The glistening oranges, jeweled with dried cranberries, sit regally in a luxurious bed of dark green spinach that's laced with the spiky fragrance of basil. The nuttiness of the pepitas complete the odyssey of taste and texture. It never fails to be a hit.
