Do You Trust Pets Near Open Water?
Why not?
No way!

My pal likes to bring Io to the DIY bath station at a local pet shop but complained to me that her dog's collar always gets all wet (during the washing process) and smelly (during the drying process). So I recommended this chic Dublin Dog version instead.
Made of a polymer blend (read: rubbery), they don't absorb moisture, retain dirt, or harbor bacteria when they get soiled or soaked.

With the weather out here in California constantly changing from hot, to windy, to cold, and back again, I noticed that North's ears tend to get dirtier faster (especially with us hitting the beach more often in the Summer months). I like to clean his ears about once a week or so with Fuzzyard Organic Ear Cleanser ($22) that contains Aloe Vera to soothe, and a mixture of Almond and Macadamia nut oils to soften stubborn wax.
But, if you aren't keen on the liquid solutions, I learned that Samson uses Earthbath Ear Wipes ($9) that come in a jar of 25.

Although North loves our trips to Baker Beach, he's not too into the waves. I don't have a surfing smooshy like this one, but my loyal pooch will still follow me if I want to dip my toes in . .

With chubby lil bodies (and smooshy faces) that we love so much, a Frenchie wouldn't go over well in the deep end! So, instead of jumpstarting some swimming lessons, lacornflakegirl pampered her Babar by letting him take a dip in a kiddie pool! This is a great way to beat the heat for those furry friends who like to cool off, but don't want to get their heads wet. It's better than letting a pup swim in your pool because dogs seem to always want to take a sip, either from a hose, the faucet, or even something naughtier .

Summer's officially over. Sigh. I like to think North and I are best suited for dry-land adventures (or boat trips, of course), but this Boston Terrier gives me hope.

This water dog belongs to ladyr, but he's waiting for the cue from Daddy to start his swimmy time!
