What a grape, err I mean great, costume idea! It may not be a pet-safe snack, but it's a neat ensemble nonetheless.

I wasn't the only one awed by those dog breed pumpkin patterns — Community Member Yogaforlife made two for herself! Checking out the magazine's choices for inspiration, she created stencils for her Australian Cattle Dog/Smooth Collie mixes, Maia (on the left) and Benny (on the right). Certainly gives me hope that I can carve out some time to create a North-inspired gourd myself!

Yes, I know we simply see pumpkins as inanimate objects but I think pooches see something else entirely – an invader to their home! Patience is surely this pup's virtue — look how unfazed Chi Chi is by baby feet all up in his face. I don't think the pooch is really being "abused," but I'm stunned by his sloppy-kiss response to the toesies on his head. If nothing else, here's another example of why parents shouldn't let babies and puppies play unsupervised, since many dogs would not be so .

After nearly three years of litigation (!), the case of Dexter has come to an end. When Doreen Houseman and Eric Dare ended their relationship in May 2006, a New Jersey court ruled Eric could keep their pug since it was in his possession at the time. However, earlier this year, an appeals panel reversed the decision saying the judge neglected to consider the dog's "subjective value", making him more like a family heirloom or work of art that cannot simply be awarded to one party for a face-value payment — Doreen received $1,500 — no one can measure Dexter's exact worth.

Happy National Dog Day! Like I need a holiday to celebrate those cute canines but, if you do, today's your day. Whether you currently share a home with a dog, have a furry pal as a BFF, or simply hold on to the memories from your youth — I'd love to hear why you're happy to share the world with pups!

Gobble, gobble, gobble. Sound familiar? If you've heard these noises coming from your dog's dish, he could use a distraction.
