Bare Bones: Pet Safe Electrical Cords

If you have a furry little troublemaker on your hands – always trying to sink his teeth into something dangerous – then an electrical cord protector is a must have. Keeping a safeguard around your TV, cable, or stereo cords is a good idea so that your pet doesn't get the shock of his life when he feels the need to chew.

Thankfully, you can get a protector on the cheap at Ikea or by shopping online. This cord protector is only six bucks ($6) but can save you a ton of worry and hassle, and it's clear so you don't have too much of a distraction running along your floorboards. Best yet, if your pet doesn't know better than to take curious chews on cords, it's infused with a citrus scent to deter any naughty nibbles. When I lived with rabbits, however, we had something a little tougher, and a lot bigger, because they were quite the super chewers!

New Product Alert! Up Country's West Village Collection

As a former NYC resident, North and I could often be found strolling the streets of the West Village. Even though our favorite dog supply shop has long since shut its doors, the new West Village Collection from Up Country makes me reminisce about our time in the Big Apple. Of the patterns, Gothic Vine brings back fond memories of the pretty brownstones covered with these tangles and makes me miss our long jaunts in the city. With collars and leashes for about $20 each, do any of these styles catch your eye, too?

Looking like a shag carpet sample, the curly soft texture is actually a polyester fleece material that naturally traps heat to regulate pets' body temperature.
The fringe is appealing for big-time snuggles, and the two sizes - in chocolate and cream - fit pooches large and small while the price still goes easy on your wallet ($36 to $44). Now, that's what I call a sweet dream.

Cinnabun Is Back (Again)

Along with all the sad news surfacing about his marriage this week, I was stunned to learn that Jesse James reported Cinnabun missing once again on March 15. After Cinnabun's miraculous return (the first time), they were certain to get the pooch equipped with HomeAgain, which tracks microchips. Thankfully, this pittie was recovered on March 18 and it was explained on the West Coast Choppers website:

We rarely go into our storage room in the production building but Cinnabun found her way in somehow. She’s back in the office and in high spirits.

Here's hoping this won't happen anymore!

Spring Cleaning: 2 DIY Hair-Removal Solutions For Sofas

If your furry friends are allowed on the couch, chances are you've seen some evidence of their presence (but hopefully only hair). Just like I saved the stairs already, now it's time to tackle the sofa.
One surefire way to pick up pet hair is by rubbing an affected area with a bunched-up ball of pantyhose - the hair clings right to the nylon texture! If that isn't powerful enough, or the sofa needs some freshening, too, there's a two product, DIY solution to remove pet hair from fabric. Grab an empty spray bottle first then see what to add to it when you read more.

Mix equal parts fabric softener and water! Do a spot test first just to be safe although, if you're using it on clothes, it's probably also safe for furniture fabrics. Simply spray the couch to loosen the hair and then grab a microfiber towel to pull that hair right off. Simple as one, two, three!

New Product Alert: Latest Cat Livin' Scratcher

Cat Livin, makers of that sisal sofa and cool climber have previewed their latest creation, this wedge scratcher, at pet industry trade show, SuperZoo last week.

While I generally love their products (especially that scratchy cat cube we gave away in July), I'd have to see this product up close to be certain - it looks slightly less stable for vigorous scratchers but still sleek nonetheless. When it's finally up for sale, will you be buying one for your furry felines?

I've already shared my love for Mascot so I was super psyched to learn about the new styles they have coming out for the season. Seems like this lil furball thinks surf's up modeling the adoro Aloha line! They've added these Hawaiian-style collars and leads in time for beachy vacay in addition to a Sailors Knot Collar Natural Collection.
