I think the design of this Loop Dog Bed I found on Unica Home is modern and lovely, but I'm not quite sure why it comes in at $700 bucks - the hut is made of faux leather, and the bed itself is stuffed with silicone fibers!

For that price tag, I would have expected an ostrich leather outside, goosedown feathers in the pillow, and maybe some gold. Like 24 karats of it.

Would You Read Your Dog's Horoscope?

I used to read my horoscope daily, without fail. But these days, I barely have time to read the paper, let alone delve into what the stars have in store for me. So it's a total guilty pleasure to read my horoscope on DearSugar first thing in the morning, and now I can get North's horoscope from Animal Planet! You should already have your kitty figured out with help from the feline astrological chart, now it's time to see what the future holds for your pooch!

Although I'm not sure if these horoscopes are anything like their human counterparts – where it's sometimes left vague so the message can be applied to more people – but yesterday, it mentioned his sensitivity to crowds, which I have to admit, was totally true. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. Or maybe I should check again tomorrow to see if it's really right . . .

Would you put Sir Rowf front and center in your home? The Royal Animal Candles ($32–$36) come in a horse, bunny and this dog - appropriately named for his regal appearance - but would your pups be happy looking eye to eye with this waxy invader? (And, definitely, don't let them take a nibble.)

Personally, I think the designs are super detailed but watching the animals melt away (on a two-hour burn time) sounds a bit sad . . . and messy. I can imagine this bust and pillar fitting somebody's wish list, is it yours?

Would You Carry Pepper Spray?

It's important to protect yourself and your pets from threats while on walks. You never know what you'll encounter strolling through an area with off-leash dogs or wild animals, and it's important to think about protection.

The idea of pepper spray was recommended in the comments of a past dealing with aggressive dogs post, and in Dean Koontz's A Big Little Life: A Memoir of a Joyful Dog, he mentions the same thing. After his dog Trixie was bitten by a loose dog, he kept a bottle saying it "discourages any dog mid-charge but does no permanent damage." What's your take on packing a bottle and using it?

I need my daily coffee before I get started with the day - though I usually grab it on the way into the office, it's definitely more cost-conscious to brew the beans at home. Maybe if I had such a fancy mug?

You may be wondering what this All You Ultra Coffee Cup ($33) is doing on PetSugar but it's actually made to match a set of dog bowls, coincidentally, the same pricey set North enjoys. Do you think it matters that you start the day drinking out of the same fancy pieces as your precious pets . . . even though your tableware stays up top while the animals' are relegated to the kitchen floor.

OK, everyone who was on the fence about that doggie robe, here's another inventive post-bath ensemble for pets - the Barnyard Friends Hooded Towel ($20). The wild options include a ducky, froggie, bunny or lil lamb, but do they best belong on LilSugar instead of this site?

After finding Lil's comment about splish splashing turning a bathroom into full-blown waterworks without a similar kiddie product, it got me thinking: So could a slippery, shaking pooch! Yes, it's essentially a pointlessly cute, absorbent towel with a hood giving Fluffy or Fido a double face - is the pointlessness or the cuteness winning out for you?

H1N1 Face Mask For Pets: Really Smart or Really Ridiculous?

With the new threat of pets (potentially) being able to be infected by H1N1 - poor kitty - some people are taking serious precautions to protect an animal from potential poisons. Take this pooch in China, he's been specially fitted with a face mask. While it limits his breathing in germs, it also prevents the extra sniffs and licks so many dogs are fond of. What's your take on this tactic?

Will Your Pet Rock the Vote at Your Local Polling Place?

Now I've already found a couple ways for him to rock (and eat) the vote, so I may just bring him along to the local fire station polling place next week. Do You Know How Many Pets Are Allowed Per Household?

Having a houseful of cats can earn you mean names - who are you calling crazy?! - but do you know how many animals you can legally own in your county? I checked out Cat Ladies at the SF Documentary Film Festival earlier this month and the producers were asked about law breaking for the movie. The flick was filmed in Canada, with different pet laws by region, but there were still concerns about ratting out (ha) pet owners over the legal limit.

Which brings us to Dudley, MA, where a woman put her home up for sale because she had more than three cats, which would require a residential kennel license in her area. I know it's come up for celebs (like Paris Hilton) and I honestly don't know how many pets my city legally allows per home, but I'm sure just one lil guy is fine. Do you?
