I Need Your Help . . . Co-worker Won't Stop Breed Stereotyping!

This insanely adoro pooch is named Harley – personally, I don't see how could you not love her cute face?! Well, seems her owner BloodyFuFu faces the problem that (sadly) many pittie owners see: people who want nothing to do with this breed based on things they've "heard."

Since they're in a pet-friendly office, several people bring dogs and she's worked with several co-workers to help them see how sweet her pooch is . . . but one has been scared of Harley since the pup was rescued two years ago and passed that fear on to her own dog. BloodyFuFu shares in the Pet Peeves group:

I can tell my dog's intentions from the pitch of her bark to her movements to her posture and I know that Harley sees this other dog as a potential playmate. The problem is really that due to fear, this woman sees Harley as a threat, her dog sees Harley as a threat, and she doesn't see when her dog is the aggressor or make any attempts to control her dog. I feel bad for trying to correct my dog for wanting to play, but I don't know what else to do. This woman also recently moved offices so now she is right next door and it seems like this will be a major issue. What can I do about someone that is unwilling to look past stereotypes and be comfortable with my dog? I don't want constant tension between the dogs, but if the owner is unwilling the dog is unwilling.

Please offer any advice below!

Do Tell: Is Your Purebred Ever Mistaken For Another Breed?

Can you pick North out of that picture? Although I consider myself pretty good at naming dog breeds, I'm always shocked by the number of people who get confused seeing my lil pup. He begrudgingly endures "I looove Pugs" or "What a cute Frenchie" at least once a week, but the funniest story comes from our days in NYC.There was an issue with my tub's leaky pipes so a plumber (supervised by the super) had to come in to fix them. On the afternoon of the appointment day, I get a phone call from my building's management company informing me that he could not fix the problem and had to leave because of my (and I do quote) "vicious pit-bull puppy." Umm, yeah, that would be North. In his crate . . . and obviously freaking out because strangers came in and didn't let him out to play!

Trying not to be outraged at the stereotype behind the "vicious pit bull" statement, I had to explain to management that I had a crated, 15-pound Boston Terrier surely hellbent on "death by kisses" and go home on my lunch break to sit with them while they fixed it the next day. Copper is an all-adventure type pooch. Here is a pic from his latest outing: he and his crew rowed around Idaho's Ririe Reservoir in a pontoon boat. I can't wait to see the pics of him doing other adventure-type stuff. You know, like rock climbing, skydiving, parasailing . . . those kinds of things.

Puppies, puppies everywhere! First I gush over Aggie, and now I have Rosie pulling on my heartstrings! Lovely_1's new eight-week-old Pit Bull is so sweet! Those my friends, are what you'd call "Puppy Dog Eyes." Oh yes.

Vick Dog Gets a Second Chance, Shares With Cancer Patients

“He was a little like a caveman at a tea party. . . He didn’t have a lot of training." That's how Leo's new owner described this pooch rescued from Michael Vick's Bad Newz Kennel. Like many of the dogs rescued from the horrific conditions, Leo's spending time with a special trainer to determine his placeability as a pet. Living with Marthina McClay, president of Our Pack, an advocacy group for pit bulls in Los Gatos, Calif, see what he's up to now in this video.

Boy, is he a success! After successfully completing five weeks of intensive training, he now shares his joy for life with cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at nearby Camino Infusion Center.

This is totally how I would find North if he was allowed on mama's bed! Apparently, Atlas decided it was a good time to take a nap – right after Steffie523 made her bed. Maybe next time she should just forget about the chore altogether – Atlas looks pretty darn comfy right where he is!

Pet of the Day: Brody's a Frisbee Fiend!

The weather's heating up so it's time to get outdoors! Take an extra twenty minutes and let your pup enjoy the weather – either with longer walks around town, time at the dog park, or a chance to frolic in the yard with new toys. Bettyesque recently treated her pooch to a brand new item – this fun frisbee! Or should I perhaps say flying disc? Either way Brody definitely looks like a disc-dog-in-training so check him out in action when you read more.

The Scoop: America's Next Top Dog

Seems like there's a friendly competition playing out at the new Chopard flagship store in NYC just days before Thursday's 11th Annual Bergh Ball cosponsored by this jeweler and the ASPCA at NYC's Plaza Hotel. Actress Lake Bell and model May Andersen were on hand yesterday to ~~judge~~ play with the contestants of 'America's Next Top Dog.' This cutie pittie baby, Cali, was crowned the grand champ but check out the other kissable pooches when you read more.
