Insanely Cute Alert! Piglet Kingsford Goes to the Beach (and More)

OK, so maybe you don't buy into all the teensy piggie hype. I hear ya - some animals that reach "fad" status, especially those praised for tiny, teacup sizes, can have health issues or be discarded. . . . once they grow bigger than expected. Now I'm weak for videos of nearly any cute species doing cute stuff and this mini flick of Kingsford meeting a cat, navigating the steps and frolicking in the water is too much to pass up on my dreary Friday. Pigs are really having their moment, wouldn't you say?! Especially with those micro pigs over in the UK, seems that baby oinkers are photogenic superstars lately. Case in point with these lil ones - check out the interesting feeding process by zoo visitors. Makes me want to book a plane ticket . . .

The Scoop: There's Less to Love With Micro Pigs

It's a pig party! Now we've seen cute little oinkers here, before but the latest pet craze over in the UK are micropigs, bred down from a mixture of the miniature potbellied pig, Tamworth, Kune Kune, and Gloucester Old Spot varieties. Fanciers say they can be easily litter-box trained, grow equivalent to a medium-sized dog (45-60 pounds), and are fine for allergy sufferers since they have hair not fur. There are a couple catches: they must be sold in pairs - double trouble? - and, at this time, only overseas.

Do you think micropigs will eventually make it big, or should I say small, Stateside? Just don't go making any swine flu jokes around the lil ones.

Found! Kelly Osbourne Loves Gooby, Mascot, and Sporky

Attention, attention, new puppy alert! Kelly Osbourne has been spotted over the last couple weeks with this lil furball! The Shiba Inu already has her (his?) wings taking plane trips with mom. Looks like Kelly wasted no time in getting this pup the coolest gear. What products did they travel with? Find out below.

Even though temperatures don't drop that much in LA, the Gooby Winter Freedom Harness ($30) is a snuggly alternative to traditional reins made of synthetic deer skin and lined with faux fur for an off-to-the-mountains look.
Then there's no matchy matchy necessary here as the pup also sports a Mascot Old School Repp Lead ($42) in one of six preppy color combos.
Lastly, she adds a pink piggy to the leash. While Sporky ($15) may appear to be a poop bag holder to an untrained eye, it's actually a dispenser for wet wipes, great for keeping fingers (and paws) clean on the plane.

When Pigs Fly! Australian Pigs Show Their Stuff

I never thought I'd actually see a pig fly, but I guess anything's possible! Fairgoers in Melbourne, Australia have been seeing pigs fly for the past nine years during the annual Royal Melbourne Show that takes place in September. During the exhibition, pigs compete in races and diving contests to see who is top pig.

The lovely porker shown here is Miss Porky Pig, and has been competing for the title against other favorites like Ham Bone, Bacon Bone, and Porky Chop. Unfortunately, each pig only competes for one season, so this is definitely her time to shine!

This Little Piggy Has Mysophobia

Looks like police dogs in Germany aren't the only pets to get some extra protection for their feet! This little diva wouldn't play in the mud with her six brothers and sisters, she just stood on the side shaking – the pig in boots is thought to have mysophobia, a fear of dirt. Luckily, her quick-thinking owners recalled the four miniature wellies used as pencil holders in their home office, grabbed the footwear and the pig, and everyone's happy! Orphaned Piggies Love Their Doggie Foster Mom!

From unlikely BFFs to not one but two sets of "pittens," all these animal mommies are doing such good deeds lately! Meet Hei Zi, a dog whose three pups recently froze to death in China. During the same sudden blizzard, another villager in Hongdong city had his mommy pig die of cold, leaving behind eight lil babies. I bet you can guess what happened next . . . but see for yourself when you read more.

Four of the piglets were given to Hei Zi so this pooch could join the ranks of that Dachshund that fostered piglets, too. All four babies are surviving and growing bigger each day – so heartwarming!

New Piggy Alert! Reese Witherspoon

That's right! Not a new puppy, Reese and fam took home a new piggy . . . and, seriously, how adoro is the little oinker?! While adopting a pig can be a challenge for many families – piggies need plenty of space to roam – if owners keep a close watch on their eating habits, a potbellied pig should end up weighing no more than 100 to 150 pounds. Yup, it's finally National Pig Day! I don't have a real pig but, for those of you who think this creature's super cute, consider getting a Sporky. This adoro dispenser can be attached to a leash loop and cleans up small messes or even wipes off those muddy paws before pups come back into the house.
