PetSugar's Halloween Photo Contest: The Results Are in...

A big thanks to everyone who shared pictures with PetSugar in my Halloween Costume Extravaganza group and via private message! We had a bunch of great costumed pets this year! So many, in fact, that I have actually chosen two winners!

Congratulations to Gizmo the Lobster. I'm shocked that he's tolerated not one but several costumes... and poses so elegantly for the camera. He doesn't even look fazed at all!
Congratulations to Super-Chicken Max, who is certainly one of the cutest, little super chickens that I've even seen! I especially like his unflinching gaze at the camera – he knows he's a superstar!

There is an awesome new pet product that you have to check out. It's called Cube. Basically, it's sheets of sturdy cardboard that can be fitted together with built in tabs and slots to create custom designed cat condos. And because it's cardboard, it's super green, light-weight, inexpensive and cats love it. Super affordable, too - only $19.95!

PetSugar's Street Team: Moochie & Co. Mud Puppies Collar

I've tried three different collars and two harnesses before settling into this, a pink nylon one with a plastic clip buckle, a green leather one from the AKC with the clip buckle, and a red leather belt type collar. None of them held up. The pink one was ragged and tearing easily, the green leather one slipped loose so easily that she could slip out of it after minutes, and she pulled the rivets out of the leather collar from pulling so hard.

We tried an "easy lead" harness - but instead of encouraging not to pull it ended up being more of a hassle and harming her. She had an orange harness that is good for runs, but you can't keep a harness on forever and a collar is more practical. We needed something for when she goes outside to do her stuff and general stuff. We didn't want it to slip or break easily. This is the perfect thing - it's so incredibly adorable (all their collars are) and the nylon is durable. The plastic grips into the nylon to prevent slipping. We get a lot of compliments on the collar and leash - it's stylish - but it's also affordable and durable.

Share Your Cute Sightings With PetSugar's New "Spotted!" Group

I love to tweet and sometimes post about the animals I see while out and about and my new group makes it more fun (and easier!) than ever. One of the newest features of the PetSugar Community is the ability to mobile blog! To celebrate I've created a Spotted! group where you can share photos of the cute pets you pass, wildlife you encounter and any breed or product questions you come across on those daily adventures.

Mobile blogging is simple to get started:

If you're not already a community member, create an account.
Next up, click Join Group on the top right-hand side of the Spotted! group.
After you register, please go to Edit Profile under your member name drop-down, click on the Post by Email tab, and follow the simple instructions on that page.
Now you're free to post piccys straight from your cell phone! Simply send an message with the photo attached, a title in the subject line, and any text in the body of the email to spotted@onsugar.com - you'll get an email back asking you to confirm so just reply and it should show up in just a few minutes! (Get a detailed explanation of how to do this here.)

First of all, join the Spotted! group.
Click the New Post button on the top right.
Enter a Title - like your pet's name - and click Insert Image to upload a picture of your pal.
If you'd like, you can add more details about your animal in the body section.
When you're all done click Create Post to submit content.

So let's all be cute capturers together as part of Spotted! and share our findings with everyone else. They just might end up on the PetSugar homepage as our "Sight of the Week."

We're so excited to unveil our shiny new PetSugar Community - it's the place to be for animal lovers! Not only can you submit your cutie pies to the Pet of the Day group, ask for help with any pet peeves, and share your favorite products, but you can still see all your furry friends, too!

Settle in and start exploring - our new community will allow you to create your very own groups, participate in other member's groups, and meet new friends that share your interests. Plus, we'll be featuring more of your amazing content and starting all new groups centered around our favorite topics. We have made it easier than ever before to create and share content with your PetSugar friends, so check it out and let the fun begin!

For those of you that already have an account, you can get started right away. For those who don't, you can browse the PetSugar Community without an account, but to really dive in, register here.

Looking for your unreads? They have gotten an upgrade too and can be found here. Your new profile features all of your content as well as a link to your very own OnSugar blog.
