The Scoop: Pet Psychic Says Knut Is Unhappy

Knut, your (second) favorite polar bear was checked out by a psychic and says it's not all good news - the cuddly white one's quick rise to the top, and all that media attention has left him with a heavy heart! Anna Katinka Witte, a well known German pet psychic who analyzed Knut's photo for a German newspaper last week, says that Knut isn't exactly feeling his best:

"He has a lot on his mind. Right now he's not doing particularly well. Knut somehow knows that he is special, but he's not exactly sure what that means."

Additionally, Witte says that Knut not only has a busy mind but could also be suffering from digestive problems and a bum right leg! Poor Knut! Although a majority of you says you don't believe in pet psychics, I still hope Knut's handlers make sure his tummy and leg are a-okay!

With a house full of pets, it's no surprise that sometimes things don't go as well as planned at the Playboy mansion. Even if you're not a fan of Hugh Hefner, he certainly loves to fill his house with animals . . . and animal lovers. One pooch seems to be suffering from a bizarre problem that causes a girlfriend (Kendra) to enlist the outside help of a puppy psychic.

Mickey Rourke Loves His Animal . . . Print!

Mickey Rourke took a stroll with his traveling chihuahua Jaws in New York's West Village earlier this week, and was seen leading his pooch with a very purple and very leopard-spotted leash. I knew Mickey was into fashion, but who knew this guy was such a trendsetter?

Sure, purple leashes have been around the block a few times already, but this pattern looks veeery similar to a Louis Vuitton scarf that I've seen around town. Has Mickey got his hands on a custom-made leash?

It's possible, especially with all the fashion shows he attended this year! But in the meantime, you can follow Mickey's lead (literally and figuratively) and pick up a similar Purple Leopard Harness and Leash ($40) I found online, and set the trend in your town.

Out and About: Arizona Animal Fair

Celebrate animals this weekend at the Seventh Annual Arizona Animal Fair! One of the largest events of its kind in the Southwest, the fest takes place in Tucson's Reid Park this Saturday from 10-4 p.m. Entry is free and all proceeds from the entertainment, food, and other activities go back to the animal-rescue community. Make your furry friend a star with Puppy Pawcasso or Glamour Paws Pet Photography, or get a holistic opinion with pet blessings and pet-psychic readings. There will also be a super adoption area with hundreds of available animals and rescue groups for everything from burros to birds, reptiles to rats. Even if you're not in the market for a new pet (and Fido and Fluffy have other plans), among the demonstrations going on will be canine freestyle, rescue dogs, and the Miniature Horse Association's "Petite Elite," showing off their powerful pulling skills for their little sizes.

Groomer Has It Recap: "Knowing Your Dog"

There's always a new twist on Groomer Has It! This week, it wasn't just the judges evaluating the performance, it was the dogs as well. Special guest pet psychic, Sonya Fitzpatrick, joined the crew to communicate with the dog and find out which Westie had the most satisfying grooming experience in the Quick Sniff Challenge. In the end, it was Jonathan's pooch, Shorty, that was happiest with his results!

After that, their real challenge was to work with Portuguese Water Dogs, a relatively rare breed often with lots of matted hair. Their goal was to do a lion cut and Jonathan, the early winner, received a cheat sheet to help him along. Once again, the groomers needed to show confidence even if they've never done the cut or, as in Artist's case, never even seen this dog before. One tip I picked up was to let a pet sniff the brush before starting to comb him out – this lets him get familiar with what's happening. Whose show has come to an end this week? Kathleen's pup on the top was Best in Show (with Jonathan's right underneath as runner up), and Jasper was sent home. We're down to four!
