OMG - Tiny Red Panda Being Bottle-Fed in Nebraska

The last time we saw Red Pandas, a loving pup was nursing a pair of newborns back to health. But at the Lincoln Children's Zoo, it's a human that stepped in to save the day this time. A tiny babe born to a milk-less mama is being hand-fed by zookeepers in order to stay alive. Red pandas are tiny to begin with, but this little girl can curl up and fit into an adult-sized palm. So sweet!

This zoo's nursery has been keeping pretty busy over the past several months, with three other newborns popping out this year - kangaroos and a horse round out the crew.

Five Fun Zoo Cams to Keep You Occupied!

I looooove webcams, and I've got some time to kill before the Fourth of July fun gets started. If you're also sitting around waiting for the food to be grilled, now's a great time to check out some live zoo action. To be fair, I've included a variety of creatures as well as three cams with baby animals . . . ummm, adoro. Go ahead, blow kisses at your screen, I'm not telling.

Lions! My current zoo cam of choice, I love to check in to see what the baby lions are up to. Nevermind that I can't understand a single word on the site except for "live" (as this zoo is all the way in Norway), my glimpses of mama lion canoodling and caring for her four cubs are too precious to pass up.
Giant Pandas! Classic cam with lots of action, check out the Giant Pandas live from the San Diego Zoo. There are seven pandas there which makes spotting at least one fairly likely. And don't forget the other cams of the Apes, Polar Bears, and Elephants afterwards.

Ferrets! I already mentioned the ferret cam because of the adorable lil one, Georgia, now visible . . . she's an endangered Black-footed Ferret. This is just one of the many great action capturers at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C.
Beluga Whales! I couldn't forget our underwater pals. Because I'm a sucker for baby animals, I love watching Qila the Beluga and her new calf born June 10. They're both super cute (and swim a lot) so see these two (and their Sea Otters) for some splashy laughs.
Penguins! I adore penguins and the Penguins' Rock webcam has some of the most active birdies I've seen. Check out Macaroni and Gentoo penguins live from Chattanooga's Tennessee Aquarium – if you're lucky, you'll see them take a dip, too!

Hungry, hungry pandas! These giant pandas made the trip from China's Sichuan province on Saturday and are settling into their new home at the Beijing Zoo. There were food and (safe) shelter shortages in their original home of Wolong Giant Panda Reserve post earthquake, but they look like they're getting plenty of that leafy green bamboo now. I love watching them eat – seriously check it out . . . adoro – so see a super cute gallery of these pandas when you read more.

The Scoop: Pandas Fly the Friendly Skies Post-Earthquake

Last week's horrible earthquake in China caused devastation across the country. The area is home to many pandas, both in the wild and at several zoos and reserves. These black-and-white creatures you see here are chomping on their fave diet of bamboo at the Chengdu Research Base in the Sichuan Province. There are eight giant pandas from the Wolong Giant Panda Reserve – about 20 miles from the epicenter of the deadly quake – calling this their temporary home. Today they'll be flying the friendly skies in a special plane. Destination: Beijing, where the creatures will soon make a new home and be on public display at the Beijing zoo! The Scoop: Tiny Dog Nurses Equally Tiny Red Panda Cubs!

Definitely one of this year's furry animals that save the day, this cute mama dog got a couple Red Panda cubs (kits?) to care for after their own mother abandoned them soon after birth. She performed the perfunctory sniff-and-greet before welcoming the lil ones to nurse. See one more pic of how well they warmed up to the doggie when you read more.

What makes the rejection even worse is that the Red Panda mom snubbed the babes in front of a huge crowd of visitors at a zoo in Taiyuan, China!

Video: A Panda Is Born . . . And It's Caught on Tape!

Not only are they one of my favorite animals to watch on zoo webcams, I can't resist baby animals (even when they're tiny and pink). Watch twin Giant Pandas being born in China – brave mom, Guo Guo, was evacuated from the Wolong Giant Panda Reserve post-earthquake, and now makes her home at a panda base in Ya'an.

Wow, can you believe how little they are?! I had to watch that video twice to check it out closely. These were the first two to be born this year over there and, hopefully a sign of more to come in this breeding program to help the beloved black-and-white creatures.
