It's Monkey Day so stop monkeying around and check out this video. Spotted on Lifehacker, the man demonstrates how this (other) primate actually opens bananas. A different approach than I imagined, so check it out and see if you're now thinking "human see, human do!"

Tomorrow's National Monkey Day! Although this holiday technically commemorates the day when John Scopes was convicted for teaching evolution in the infamous Monkey Trial ending on July 21, 1925, I'm going to use that bit of history to commemorate some monkey phrases of our own. Check out cute creatures acting as the saying would imply - "Monkey see, monkey do" after all!

Can You Guess How the Owl-Faced Monkey Got Its Name?

Born on March 19, check out this cutie pie. Hellooooo. The owl-faced baby monkey (fancy name: Cercopithecus Hamlyni) poses with mom, Kamina, who looks a bit more like this namesake, wouldn't you say? Yup, I definitely see it, this babe will grow up with that intense owly gaze, trademark coloring and hopefully help the animals' population. After all, there are only 31 left in captivity (and five breeding females) to help this threatened species. See more pictures of the monkeys at France's Mulhouse Zoo below.

This Monkey Babe Looks Just Like a Monchhichi

When I was little, I went through a phase of collecting Monchhichi figurines, remember those all you kids of the 80s?! I haven't thought of them in years until I saw this lil face and it came rushing back. Meet Elke, an infant Francois Langur born at Sydney's Taronga Zoo. Newborns are bright red or orange all over, but this color changes slowly and reaches black by one year of age. A critically endangered species, there are only around 1,000 of these leaf-eating monkeys still in northeast Vietnam – see one more photo of the rare babe when you read more.

Mandrill Baby Chills With a Literary Family

Another Monday, another Mandrill. Actually, that's not technically true because this is the first of these colorful-faced primates we've seen in a while. But, seems the cliche still rings true, with the monkeys and the bananas that is.
This four-week-old babe is in – you guessed it – Germany seen here with mom Zora and dad Pablo. I'm thinking someone should offer this literary bunch . . . a bunch of bananas!

Cottontop Tamarin Baby Masters Cute in Just Two Weeks' Time

Monkey baby, hooray! Just so you know, I totally said those words super silly so they all sounded the same (Monk-ay bab-ay hoor-ay). Call me crazy, but I'm going loopy from gazing into the eyes of this lil cutie pie. The two-week-old peeking babe cast a spell on me while innocently catching a ride on daddy's back.
I can guess how this species got their name, too – look at those tufts of white hair on the Cottontop Tamarin, they wear that hair hue proudly! In addition to this fam at the Jerusalem Zoo, there are only about 1,800 in captivity and 1,000 in the tropical forests of Colombia (their native habitats). Check out a couple more piccys below!

Super-Cute Gallery: Baby Black Howler Gets Bottle Fed!

Go, Diego, go! The three-month-old Black Howler Monkey takes some sloppy sips in his home at Scotland's Edinburgh Zoo. This greedy guy looks rather hungry and friendly, happy to cling to both people . . . and his stuffed mommy substitute. Since Molly died days after giving birth, he receives 'round the clock human care – seven meals spread out over each 24-hour period! – to help him grow up healthy and strong.Howler monkeys are happiest in troops of four to eight members so this babe will be gradually reintroduced to the zoo's group in the coming weeks, with full reintroduction expected to be achieved by the end of the year.

The Scoop: Welcome Vale the Titi

It's been at least a week since we've gotten our adoro baby animal fix here on PetSugar! That's way too long if you ask me so here's where Vale comes along. This tiny titi monkey was the first to be born in the new rainforest biome of London Zoo in late January. Parents Yara and Thiago proudly showed off their 4-week-old babe last week as the zoo made the announcement of this red one right before V Day. Titi monkeys mate for life and both parents share responsibility for the young one. In fact, often times, the daddy has primary care giving duties, but still brings the wee thing to mom for nursing, of course. This picture shows Vale resting on Yara's back while gazing into his pop's eyes - I couldn't resist sharing more closeup shots in a gallery when you read more.
