Those with picky kitties will confirm: it's extra important to keep the litterbox clean and also key to tell what you're scooping so you don't miss a spot. But let's just say it's better seen and not smelled. Yuck.

You'll have to pardon the pretty ridiculous name on this product — maybe they weren't thinking when naming the Poop-See Scoop. But, it will prevent those lil mistakes by shining a beacon on your cat's business. If that's what you want.

I'm imagining something pretty magical takes place inside this contraption! First off, it looks like a kitty time machine, definitely not a litter box. I guess it's your feline's fecal matter getting zapped off somewhere in the Litter Robot II ($329).

Attention kitty owners! Are you willing to forgo that shovel of years past, and invest in a SmartScoop Scoop-N-Sift ($3.99)? To use, simply scoop clumps using the solid half and then rotate to the slotted side to shake, shake, shake that litter out .

This hand-blown glass jar is meant for kitty litter, but I can imagine the beautiful vessel holding up with just about anything in it. I was totally on board for the sleek Vaso (with walnut top) until I saw a price tag of $750 – it's a great example of something I'd definitely crave, if I had an extra million laying around. Either way, how do you feel – if you could afford it, is this your style?

Choosing kitty litter is a tough decision! There are so many options out there, and changing litter types can upset your cat and cause naughty "elimination" behaviors. Many users shy away from the traditional clay or silica gel varieties which can contain carcinogens and burden landfills, and choose more eco-tastic alternatives.

"Dirt" cake was one of my favorites as a child but, let's be honest, the Oreo cookie crumbles and gummy worms still didn't make it that realistic.
That's not the case here with my friend Samantha's kitty litter cake. It looks so believable, I have trouble ignoring the unsavory appearance.

If you have a cat, you know the litter box can be a royal pain to keep clean and smell free! Not only do you want to keep it from repelling your house guests, but it must appeal to your kitty as well. Now not all litters are created equal, so if you find that your cat isn't using his litter box, you may be using a litter that smells bad to him.

This question came up with a friend of mine recently: She has two cats living in a small apartment here in San Francisco, and likes to entertain guests. I asked if she would rather have a litter box cabinet, like the Refined Litter Box, that could hide away kitties' litter, but still pull double duty as a counter top, or if she would rather have an attractive and modern litter box since it would be sitting out anyway like the Litter/Bed Combo. Why hide it if you know it's there!?

When I first spotted this on moderncat, I thought it was a prototype for a futuristic creation. However, much to my surprise, the Litter-Garage ($180) already exists. According to the manufacturer's website, it only takes an hour of installation (provided you have an existing cat door) and is a safe way to stash the stinky box in the garage without worrying about a feline taking a nap under your car.
