Bring the Outdoors In: Animal Themed Home Accessories

After that fun Jonathan Adler pottery post I just couldn't get enough of the animal home accessories. So I dug up a few cute things from one of my favorite shopping inspirations, Charles and Marie and UK design shop Slam Design. I especially love the Dog Magazine Rack and fish drain stopper. Seriously, how cute is that!?

I also took a liking to the Deer Bookends, the Seal Coin Bank, and the Farm Animal Rubber Bands, and would totally toss the kitty pocket mirror into my bag. And just to throw in something for the outside of your home, there's a solar birdhouse that boasts a light-up perch. It's like a little porch light for your winged friends!

Jonathan Adler's New Pottery Collection Is Totally Wild

Chic designer Jonathan Adler, who produced one of my favorite pet bed designs, is showing off his love for animals in a new way - with pottery and home accessories! His line of place card holders, pottery, salt and pepper shakers and lamps made in the likeness of whales, penguins, giraffes and hippos is right up my alley - it's all wild, baby! These goodies are available for purchase on his website ($18-$700) now, but if we're really lucky, we may see a few of the items on the shelves at Target. I'm pretty sure I've already seen the bull place card holder and snail napkin ring there already. Although the dachshund up there on top can't be considered a wild animal, he sure could use some love. Just look at that swaying back!

Put a Dog (or Cat) On Your Wall With Blik Decals

I enjoy incorporating a love of animals into my decor and these cute pups can be added to my household with nary a scratchmark. The sweet decals can find a happy home on walls, windows, floors (any surface really) and won't make your actual pets jealous. Birdy and Dottie Mae are the little puppies of Twenty, who works hard as a mascot at the fire station. Whether they're tagging along on a fire truck or playing quietly in the corner, Birdy and Dottie Mae feel content and adored. In fact, Twenty gives her babies so much love that a city full of firefighters couldn't begin to extinguish her affection.

That's too cute. Sadly, there are no Boston Terriers (yet . . . fingers crossed) but at least their smooshy cousins, the Pugs, get some love – check out the available sets when you read more.

Good Reads: Fur Shui

You've heard of Feng Shui, right? It's the idea that the Chi (or energy) that flows through your home should be balanced. If you are a believer in the practice, author Paula Brown says the same principal can be applied to your pets! In her new book Fur Shui, Paula tells us how balancing your pets' chi can create a more balanced life for both you and your furry pals:

Animals are full of natural energy and have a pervasive desire to provide emotional support to their caretakers. Just like Feng Shui, Fur Shui works off of the ancient Chinese principal that energy areas in your home correspond with a color. For example the health and knowledge area is yellow, and the family section is green. So theoretically, if you tie a yellow ribbon on your doggie's crate, he will have good health! And if your kitty is having socialization or family issues, put a green bell on him to nurture healthy family chi. Although Fur Shui is not a substitute for regular veterinary care, I'm not opposed to new ways to make sure North and I are in total energy harmony. Do Tell: How Do You Battle the Stink?

Let's be honest: sometimes our pets smell. And, try as we might to bathe them often and keep their bedding clean, sometimes that stink seeps into our entire home. P.U.! In addition to those standard air fresheners and aroma sprays, there are plenty of products out there to help us battle the smelly furmonsters like the Arm & Hammer Pet Fresh line with odor-eliminating foams, powders, and even a vacuum.

It's a bit overwhelming because they don't come cheap, and how will we know what will work . . . without making our house smell like a phony flower garden?! I'm curious to know what odor removers you include in your reek-wrecking army – so share all tips in the comments below!

North May Still Need a Sill Shield

While North doesn't show much interest in the closed window (unless we're feeding the birds), whenever I have it cracked just the teensiest bit, he loves to put his paws up and sniff that fresh air coming in. Now my window ledges weren't in the greatest shape when we moved in but, if I owned my home, I would consider getting one of these Sill Shields to match any window I'd have open.

Just How Many Pets?

Many cities have laws that prohibit families from owning over a certain number of dogs – Paris Hilton revealed she was well over LA county's three pet legal limit – and, if they're tipped, animal services may come a-knockin'. While many of these region-based rules apply only to dog owners, I'm curious how many pets share your home? Bare Bones: Stylish Bird Feeders

Even though I live in an apartment, I still would like to have a bird feeder for my window. Watching birds is a relaxing way to spend a lazy weekend morning while I have my coffee. But, since embarking on my own bird feeder hunt, I've run into a bit of a problem – finding one that I like . . . and can afford. If you've even Googled "Bird Feeders" lately, you may also be stumped to find modern feeders to match your stylish taste. I know I'm not the only one with travel on the mind now with Summer upon us. Toss Designs is a one-stop shop for uplifting travel gear, home goodies and pet stuff.
