You Can't Buy Knut, But You Can Buy a Polar Bear Bookshelf!

I am all about polar bears (obviously), but I'm not sure how I'd feel about shoving this nearly four foot tall Polar Bear Book Shelf I found on Outblush into my apartment. Although come to think of it, it would be about the size of a baby Knut, would it not? Humm - like having my very own baby polar be . . . ah who am I kidding.

Designed by iBride (pronounced e-breed), they are a family based firm out of France that whips up environmentally focused art and design that features animals of all kinds. But, even if this polar bear bookshelf did scream "Must Have", I couldn't bring myself to add it to the list. It's $6000 dollars. Yup, that's three zeros. It sure is cool though, right?

ModKat Litter Box Scoops Top Design Honor!

Please Chew the Furniture

Plenty of doggies and kitties can be quite mischievous choosing to scratch, chew, or do other naughty things to your furniture. Just one of the perils of pet ownership sprinkled on top of all the positives, I'd say. If you're trying to protect your table or chair legs from claws, paws, and teeth, consider this investment. The Chew Leg ($32) comes in six colors of rubber to guard those low-to-the-ground legs from furry friends. Now I wouldn't want to give pets the wrong idea (that tables are for chompers), but this looks like a neat way to cover up some existing nibbles, or perhaps prohibit future ones.

Le Corbusier-Style Dog Sofa: Spoiled Sweet or Spoiled Rotten?

To give you an idea of how it'd look in your similarly styled home (don't we wish?!), I've added the Le Corbusier-Style Dog Sofa into a room with the furniture it was inspired by. This pet resting place comes in black, white, tobacco, and grey with either vinyl or leather surfaces . . . but runs closer to prices for your decor at $210 and up. No doubt it fits well in this room, in a matchy matchy way, but would this product have any place in your home, if you're sitting on the dough?

Pet Peeves: Kitty Confuses Chair For Litterbox!

Q: My kitty keeps peeing on a chair in my living room. At first I wasn't sure, but I know that stench all too well and several times it's still been damp to the touch when I get home from work. I don't want this problem to spread so how do I save my couch and other chairs?

A: Most cats hate citrusy smells – similar to keeping them away from your plants with lemon halves, sprays, or peel shavings, soak a cotton ball with lemon juice and place it on that chair, near the spot where your cat continues to relieve herself.

Another way to keep felines off furniture is aluminum foil – cats typically don't like the sound nor feeling under their paws and should stop jumping up once you put it there. In fact, you shouldn't have to do this forever (that could get annoying when you want to plop down to watch TV and again before you go to bed) as kitties easily recall such things.

Bare Bones: ItchyKnee's Pet Products

Ever since I came across the Plush Catnip Birds yesterday, I've become totally in love with ItchyKnee's cat goodies! Even though I don't have a kitty of my own, I can appreciate an awesome product when I see one. One of my other favorites is this Wall Barrel ($70-$120) that attaches right to your wall, and comes in some eye pleasing colors and textures. They also have a floor version, but I like this one because it becomes more of a cat tree, especially if you stack them, like in this pic.

Plus, the wall barrel is made of sturdy cotton, wool, and corduroy, so if your kitty decides to have a little scratch, he won't harm it - well, not too much anyway! ItchyKnee has even more really cute cat accessories that I've rounded up in one of my handy widgets when you read more.
