You'll have to pardon the pretty ridiculous name on this product - maybe they weren't thinking when naming the Poop-See Scoop. But, it will prevent those lil mistakes by shining a beacon on your cat's business. If that's what you want.

On hooded or furniture-incorporated litter boxes, it can get pretty dark in there when digging for buried ~~treasure~~ poop so $15 and a couple batteries lights your way. No oopsies involved.

When North and I head out of town for a quick getaway, I need an extra tote to lug all his stuff around in! Food, treats, poop bags, eye wipes, and toys are just a few essentials that I end up carrying in one of my bags. But thankfully, I don't have to shop at a baby supply store to find a nice "diaper bag" for all of my pup's stuff.

These are the things fairy tales are made of! With a fire-breathing dragon and frog waiting to be kissed, playful princes and princesses can tote these toys anywhere they go! The neatest feature - the coiled parts extend when each squeakable Squeeze Meeze ($5 and $7) is compressed in chompers. I know my dog's eyes would bug out at the flapping tongue (much like those party-favor blowouts), but also that he'd find a way to destroy the toy and protect our kingdom . . . pronto. Sigh, times like this make me wish I had a more cowardly pup.

Bring the US Open Love Home!

Today marks the start of the US Open (which coincidentally coincided six years ago today when I brought North home to NYC)! To celebrate the beginning of this event, I'm rounding up the first round thing to come to mind . . . tennis balls, obviously.
North loves the extra small Air Kong versions 'cause they're super squeaky and fit him perfectly. (He usually tears all the fabric off a normal doggy tennis ball to use the frays to fetch 'em since they don't fit in his mouth.) Since he's pretty darn destructive, I'm shocked how long it takes him to kill the squeakers in this version – they sometimes last a couple months, which is an eternity in his chompers. Bare Bones: Crazy Cat Circle

I'm always looking for fun kitty gear (hint: submit it to my Street Team!) so I asked my friend Aimee what toy brought the most joy to her pet, Midnight. She instantly recommended the "spinny thing" . . . hmm, great suggestion, but not so easy to track down. After some follow-up questions, I figured out it's this Crazy Circle ($8) teaser for playful kitties. Consisting of a hollowed, rounded plastic tube, there's a slot for a frisky feline paw to whack a small ball around in circles, but not fall out. This kitty-powered toy also comes in a larger size for $14 and sounds like it could make me rather dizzy!One word of warning, the batting and ball can be noisy - if you've got carpet, I'd suggest placing it on that so the entire contraption doesn't shift all over the floor while kitty's playing. Plus, Aimee's added a different ball – like one with a bell – to make her Middy even more excited!

Does Your Pet Have a Favorite Toy?

I already know that you and I both love toy shopping for our pets, but do they have a favorite? LilPeaPod just bought this little guy from Target: a 99-cent rubber squeaker shaped like a squid. Apparently, it's Samson's new fave:

It's funny, with all the expensive and "durable" toys we've bought our little guy, that this one is now his favorite. It's the cheapest, and has outlasted those that were supposed to stand up to a Super Chewer!

Do your pets show favorites towards a particular toy? I know McNulty does!

Bare Bones: PDX Dog's Artisan Feeder

We've seen our share of feeders and bowls on the site, but honestly there are few that I could see myself actually picking up. This Artisan Feeder from PDX Dog, which I caught in the newest edition of City Dog, might be one that I would spend my hard-earned money on. Coming in three sizes - six-, 12-, and 18-inch heights - and a number of cool modern colors, I can confidently say that any of these would look great in my apartment.

North already has a set of designer bowls, but if I were shopping for a replacement, the Artisan Feeder could make it on my short list. And since these are all hand-crafted from maple wood, the price tag of $80-$275 doesn't seem all that bad. At least you would know they were unique!
