New Product Alert! Rage Against the Maltese

Aww, what did that adoro fluffy animal ever do to you?! I'm betting this clever shirt got its name based on the common letters between Maltese and machine, but still I've got nothing but love for the teacup pups. (If rage involves chasing and licking, North has a lot of that . . . toward most breeds!)

Regardless, rockin' company Rockstar Puppy recently tweeted about its new tees, and I had to check 'em out. I'm loving this one best but they've got bands of all genres. If you have any other musically inspired group/breed names or song suggestions, "Whippet good" and share in the comments below.

Trend Setters: Shikisai

I love the simple style of the Shikisai. While they've got sketches for adults and toddlers, check out their pet line (extra-small to large). Using just black ink on white background, the shirts all feature line drawings of ordinary objects. While I'm not sure I've got the extra $30 at the moment, put this one on my list for things I'll invest in when the economy picks up again. I'm doodling just thinking about it.

Looking For Brad Pittbull: Spoiled Sweet or Spoiled Rotten?

I'm counting down 'til the Oscars tonight, are you? I've already brushed up on the films (and filled out my prediction ballot) so I'm all ready to tune in.

Since I still need to work until then, I just spotted something that seemed especially relevant for the night's festivities. This shirt's now on sale for $16 and reminded me of one of tonight's nominees, Brad Pitt. Are you a fan of this tee?

Leave it to Fab to spot this super cute smushy, Oliver, modeling a cashmere sweater made by Phillip Lim. The designer (for people) is now venturing out into clothing for furry friends, inspired by his own doggy muse. These cashmere sweaters come in gray, navy stripe and bubblegum colors with sizes from extra small to large. Considering the price of his normal clothes (and the cost of cashmere), they don't come cheap at $150 each. Maybe your pup should ask Santa instead?

Bathing Beauty: Spoiled Sweet or Spoiled Rotten?

OK, it totally reminds me of those silly shirts for sale at any warm-weather vacation destination . . . you know, right next to the "One Tequila, Two Tequila, Three Tequila, Floor" shirts? This tacky tee comes in five sizes for pets up to 90 pounds so even the big dogs can show off a noticeably slimmer physique. Although I can see the irony in the product name of Bathing Beauty ($25), I know I wouldn't subject my (male) dog to the stares and giggles of others - could you?

BentleyB Vintage Tees For Your Old School Pet

I'm not really the type of dog mom that dresses up her pet in crazy fashions (except for the occasional tie or rockin' sweater from time to time), but I have to say that these tees from BentleyB are bringing back fond memories for me, which is probably why I'm contemplating a purchase . . . for North, of course. From old band tees to products from the '80s, BentleyB is to dogs as Urban Outfitters is to humans.

Shirts are $32, and are truly vintage as they've been carefully selected and recycled secondhand. But the bummer is that a ton of the best tees are sold out! I hope the stock gets replenished soon, 'cause you see that Felix tee? Yeah, that's on my list. I loved that cat!

What's Your Take: Are Pup Belly Warmers the Next Big Trend?

While cruising through the pet section of the Japanese dollar store, I happened upon a collection of Pup Belly Warmers. In most ways, they are simply pet sweaters, designed to keep your animal warm; however, they don't have holes for limbs. Innnnnteresting. After staring at them for a few minutes, I decided I'd categorize them as leg warmers for your puppy's belly. At about $4 a pop they certainly don't compare to the cozy Juicy Couture sweater Blake Lively's dog sports, but they're definitely unique. Do you think your pet has a chilly tum or would he wanna wiggle his way right out of this idea?

Out and About: D.O.G. Pet Boutique

Late last week I got an urgent phone call from a close college friend. She was in LA on her move back from Colombia leaving that evening on her way to DC for work. Her continent-crossing pittie, Baby, is (obvs) too big for clothes for the pocket-sized pups but she was worried about the warm-weather doggie getting too chilly and wanted to pick up a sweatshirt for the trip. She didn't have the time to order one of these fun hoodies I found so I immediately thought of the best store to send her to - The D.O.G. Boutique (that's the dee-oh-gee, for those in the know).

A few hours later, I got a happy text from her when she was sitting in the airport – hooray! Not only was the saleswoman super sweet, they found an awesome pink hoodie at this West Hollywood outpost. D.O.G.'s online store doesn't even hit half of their cool products so, if you're in LA, definitely check out this store!

So often it can seem like the cute canine clothing is limited to those lil pets under 20 pounds. It can be rather confusing to look at sizes online as, what's an XL to one company could be a pooch of 25 pounds where as to another XL is a pup of over 100. The best way to guarantee fit is to see the item in person or when companies list weights and measurements for their apparel. I've collected a widget of some of my favorite girly ~~girl~~ dog hoodies in pink, pink, and more pink. Check them out in a widget when you read more.

Special Alert: Go Where No PetMarks Have Ever Gone...

Now even I don't have the budget to deck my pup out with all the latest fashions (and many of you have pets that hate clothing) but let's dream a little and make a new look for our pampered pals, real or imaginary. In the spirit of the season, let's create layered looks for pets. I'll start by sharing an example of the style I created for my layered pooch . . . then feel free to do your own in your comments below. Be creative – the best look wins a PetSugar tee for you or your pet's own layered style! To see mine, learn how to get started, and see a list of my fave shops, just read more.

For those of you familiar with fab finding on FabSugar, I want you to get creative here as well! Think of pet accessories (collars, leashes, charms, hats, etc.), cozy sweaters or cute tees, and then top it off with outerwear. Build these layered looks by creating a list of items. You can start by searching a past PetMarking mission for those cozy sweaters we found or by tagging your own cute pet gear as "layered pooch" and creating a widget with your list.
