It's Never Too Early For Fall Fashion: Idawg Bomber Jackets

I'm a true believer in planning ahead when it comes to fashion. My theory is it's never too early in August to check out autumn goodies, especially since New York Pet Fashion Week is right around the corner. As you can tell, I'm excited to get into the swing of things a little early. So when I saw Idawg's hot Fall line of bomber jackets, I instantly fell in love.

North would totally rock this Idawg Fader in Navy, keeping him warm and toasty on those misty San Francisco nights. And since Idawg is based up in rainy Washington state, I'm guessing they are quite the authority on wet-weather gear!

Heads Up! GreenDog Designs Collection Coming Soon

I know I've been on a total doggie clothes kick lately, but who can blame me?! There are so many new and adorable pup fashions out there to discover. And Greendog Designs is no exception. Based here in San Francisco, Greendog prides themselves on being a sustainable company that produces high quality and oh-so-cute pieces, with little waste production.
There are four lines currently being showcased on their website: Cutie Couture (featuring rare vintage fabrics), Cape Coat Collectibles (for everyday wear), Ruff Stuff (made of vintage upholstery), and Organic Manic (boasting 100 percent organic cotton and wool fabrics). Greendog's already getting some awesome feedback since being featured at Woofstock 2007 in Toronto as well as the SF Gift Show. But, what's more, a portion of their profits from their next line, dubbed African Connection, will go to helping a foundation based in Ghana. There's nothing better than buying products that are not only stylish, but that help others, too.

Found! Maui's Sweet Tee

Awww, the ever-adorable Maui loves bones, Juicy, and surely also mom, Ashley Tisdale! The ball of fluff accompanied the actress to a meeting in Century City . . . I wonder if it was about her upcoming feature film role in They Came from Upstairs? I'm a fan of the Juicy Crittoure pawtection products and the rest of their line, including this Bones Doggy Tee ($30) for your teacup pup – it comes in crystal pink and "Lady G blue", too!

Now I'll be sharing fashion items to spice up your pet's wardrobe, but I'm curious if you consider yourself when picking out a tee or collar color for a pet? And, would you go one step further and dress in outfits similar (or matchy-matchy) to a pet's appearance?

Out and About: D.O.G. Pet Boutique

Late last week I got an urgent phone call from a close college friend. She was in LA on her move back from Colombia leaving that evening on her way to DC for work. Her continent-crossing pittie, Baby, is (obvs) too big for clothes for the pocket-sized pups but she was worried about the warm-weather doggie getting too chilly and wanted to pick up a sweatshirt for the trip. She didn't have the time to order one of these fun hoodies I found so I immediately thought of the best store to send her to - The D.O.G. Boutique (that's the dee-oh-gee, for those in the know).

A few hours later, I got a happy text from her when she was sitting in the airport – hooray! Not only was the saleswoman super sweet, they found an awesome pink hoodie at this West Hollywood outpost. D.O.G.'s online store doesn't even hit half of their cool products so, if you're in LA, definitely check out this store!

So often it can seem like the cute canine clothing is limited to those lil pets under 20 pounds. It can be rather confusing to look at sizes online as, what's an XL to one company could be a pooch of 25 pounds where as to another XL is a pup of over 100. The best way to guarantee fit is to see the item in person or when companies list weights and measurements for their apparel. I've collected a widget of some of my favorite girly ~~girl~~ dog hoodies in pink, pink, and more pink. Check them out in a widget when you read more.

Clothes For the Hip(ster) Puppy

American Apparel, known for its simple garments, hipster image, and activism in the community has finally gone to the dogs. Doggie clothes, that is. Recently expanding their line of pet apparel, I caught these while perusing for some new shirts for myself. In addition to loving their ribbed puppy tees, they now offer a California Fleece Dog Vest ($16) with contrasting collar and leg openings in 22 color varieties! Now, I know some of you are on the fence about dogs in clothing when it's not cold weather, but I suppose if you dig your American Apparel duds, your pup can too! The streamlined, blank slate style of these tees would make a great foundation for a DIY craft project I've got in mind . . . stay tuned!

Special Alert: Go Where No PetMarks Have Ever Gone...

Now even I don't have the budget to deck my pup out with all the latest fashions (and many of you have pets that hate clothing) but let's dream a little and make a new look for our pampered pals, real or imaginary. In the spirit of the season, let's create layered looks for pets. I'll start by sharing an example of the style I created for my layered pooch . . . then feel free to do your own in your comments below. Be creative – the best look wins a PetSugar tee for you or your pet's own layered style! To see mine, learn how to get started, and see a list of my fave shops, just read more.

For those of you familiar with fab finding on FabSugar, I want you to get creative here as well! Think of pet accessories (collars, leashes, charms, hats, etc.), cozy sweaters or cute tees, and then top it off with outerwear. Build these layered looks by creating a list of items. You can start by searching a past PetMarking mission for those cozy sweaters we found or by tagging your own cute pet gear as "layered pooch" and creating a widget with your list.

New Product Alert! Rage Against the Maltese

Aww, what did that adoro fluffy animal ever do to you?! I'm betting this clever shirt got its name based on the common letters between Maltese and machine, but still I've got nothing but love for the teacup pups. (If rage involves chasing and licking, North has a lot of that . . . toward most breeds!)

Regardless, rockin' company Rockstar Puppy recently tweeted about its new tees, and I had to check 'em out. I'm loving this one best but they've got bands of all genres. If you have any other musically inspired group/breed names or song suggestions, "Whippet good" and share in the comments below.
