In attempts to maximize my DIY potential (and minimize spending on pricey dog sweaters and stitched toys), I'd love to take up this crafty hobby. Sadly, I was once called too much of a perfectionist to complete the task in a timely fashion, but with my increased age comes decreased fussiness about each stitch being exact, so I think I'm ready! First up on the reading list is Pet Projects: The Animal Knits Bible ($18) — packed with ideas that would make even Martha Stewart green with envy.

One rather crafty gal in Austria made this home for her dwarf hamster friend from an Ikea bookcase and I'm in awe of her handiwork — have you tackled any crafty repurposing for your pets?
PS, if you have tackled any DIY projects that you'd like to share, add them to the Bake It Or Make It group created for that very purpose!

For one small dog, North certainly has a cabinet full of beauty products to slosh up an entire kennel's worth of pups. Granted I've got my favorite shampoos (and conditioner) to keep my pooch so fresh and so clean, clean in smell and appearance but a recent post on Dolittler got me thinking.
The vet was waxing poetic about the power of Dawn dishwashing detergent for oily pet problems like accidental dips in motor oil or skunk spray.

I admit when a pal shared her crafty creation idea with me, I was worried it would result in something dangerous. However, she proudly showed off her tape measure re-creation and it looked rather recreational for her frisky feline. Many cats go crrrazy for fronds of all time so she took a tiny, retractable tape measure and taped a few bright feathers to the end.

I wasn't the only one awed by those dog breed pumpkin patterns — Community Member Yogaforlife made two for herself! Checking out the magazine's choices for inspiration, she created stencils for her Australian Cattle Dog/Smooth Collie mixes, Maia (on the left) and Benny (on the right). Certainly gives me hope that I can carve out some time to create a North-inspired gourd myself!

Just like that old saying goes, you should "put a sock in it" . . .

Dogs aren't the only ones who enjoy some frozen goodness of the fruit or the peanut butter varieties. In honor of today's wriggly nosed ruler, I created a specially sweet treat for those silent creatures. They're yummy for bunnies' tummies but don't treat rabbits to too many — nobody likes a tubby bunny!
