ASPCA and Chopard Team Up With Diamond Paws

OMG, how adoro is this puppy . . . and the necklace is quite a stunner, too. This lil spokespup is sleepily announcing the 11^th Annual Bergh Ball on April 17 at NYC's Plaza Hotel. Last year's event raised over $1 million for the American Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), whose mission is to provide effective means to prevent animal cruelty throughout the United States. Put on this year by the ASPCA, in partnership with Chopard, the dream jeweler is helping make dreams come true by not only helping put on a fabulous fund-raiser, but also creating an exclusive series of limited-edition watches and pendants with floating diamond paws ($2,180 and up). A diamond lasts forever and, with the news that Kimora is considering having her pooch's ashes turned into a gem, I figured I'd do a poll of the rest of us! Illinois-based LifeGem creates certified, high-quality diamonds from the carbon of your loved one to symbolize your personal and precious bond with each other.

LifeGem diamonds are molecularly identical to natural diamonds found at any high-end jeweler. To qualify as diamonds, they must have the exact same brilliance, fire, and hardness (the hardest substance known) as diamonds from the earth, and of course, they do!

Will Kimora's Dog Become a Diamond?

It seems to be a perennial debate - are diamonds or a dog truly girl's best friend? Now, don't get me wrong, I looooove diamonds - glittery sparkles always catch my eye, and would love to have like 1,600 diamonds. However (and, this is a biiiiiig however), I'm not so sure how I'd feel about a doggie diamond.

But, once again, I may not be fashion-forward enough. When promoting her new fragrance, Fabulosity, the queen of bling Kimora Lee Simmons touched upon the sad, recent death of her 18-year-old dog, Zoe . . . and mentioned her unique way to commemorate her pup. Diamonds.

"There is a company that makes diamonds out of your loved ones," she said." [They] make diamonds from a little of the carbon from the ash, so I might do that. I might turn her into a diamond."

LifeGem takes the carbon from your deceased pet's (or family member's) ashes from $2,699 for a .20 carat yellow diamond up to $24,999 for a 1.50 carat red or green one - you can only get a colorless diamond up to a half-carat size. They can also create a stone from the carbon from a simple haircut - they'll need about a handful of hair or one cup of the cremated remains to complete their breakthrough process. While it doesn't seem out of range for Kimora's lavish lifestyle, do you think she'll actually go through with it?

This Dog Collar Costs How Much?!

What a pretty pooch and pretty collar, too! I'm all for keeping pets stylish and safe but still was shocked when I saw the price of this collar/receiver - which includes installation of a PetSafe fence system - to keep the pet inside the lawn. Let's just say its description says "dipped in diamonds," but can you guess just how much?

We all know that a healthy diet and lots of exercise is the key to good health. And as you may expect, the same goes for our pets! One of the judges from Greatest American Dog, Wendy Diamond, recently made an appearance on the Today Show and explained how to tell if our pets are overweight. Apparently, it's all in the ribs!

If you can't feel your pet's ribs, she says he might be a bit too pudgy and just like humans, be at risk for type 2 diabetes, arthritis, and even respiratory issues. Making sure your pets get the right amounts of good, quality food, and plenty of playtime is the prescription to keeping your four legged pals happy and healthy! How do you keep your pets in shape?

I couldn't agree more with the sentiment expressed on this shirt – I love North, but I also love bling! The chocolate Zissou and Spike tee ($98) is 100 percent super-soft cotton with the silk-screened sentiment and Swarovski-embellished "diamond" ring. Regardless of your opinion of her as a pet owner, I think Paris Hilton's tee is pretty cute – how about you?

Koh-I-Noor Prime: Spoiled Sweet or Spoiled Rotten?

I like diamonds and sparkly things as much as the next girl, but on my dog's neck? I'm not too sure about that. First off, my pooch is a boy and secondly, there's a part of me that worries he would decide to take a nibble out of a crystal and semi-precious gemstone studded leash and end up with an emergency vet visit.

For those of you with more girly pets or ones that perhaps don't view everything as a snack, the Koh-I-Noor Prime Dog Collar ($290) comes with the aforementioned jewels hand embroidered to leather collars and leads for the next big occasion. Is this especially nice or something way too special for your furballs?
