I was kind of at a loss when I saw this pic of a Westie outside of the Republican National Convention – talk about a serious dye job! I'm hoping that the owner of this pooch used a pet safe dye on his dog, since using human grade hair color, or even food coloring can be super harmful to your pets' skin!
Although I would never do this to North, what do you think about dyeing your pet's fur?

For the third year in a row, the Humane Society of the US educated fashion students from various Art Institutes about the problems associated with animal fur, including cruelty and false labeling. Then, in perfect Project Runway style, comes their challenge: budding designers are shown four runway designs from fall 2007 that used animal fur, then asked to reinterpret and improve them sans cruelty in a Cool vs. Cruel fashion design contest.

While laser pointers seem innocent enough (albeit stressful), there are people who believe they're totally inappropriate play toys. The argument for — "my cat loves it" — is contradicted by kitty behaviorists who say that prey capture is any feline's natural goal. The problem with a laser pointer: kitty never ever comes away with the prey (aka the light) in her grasp.

Well, well, well, the first question that came to my mind when I saw these pups (after why) was how, 'cause I know there's at least someone out there wondering how to follow the trend of these pooches snapped in LA. In fact, the streaked pups remind me of lil Preston's way of standing out on the set of Greatest American Dog. Since North already has a dark mask, ears, and back half, he's not quite a candidate but if you think this is cool not cruel, I've found the products for you.

With the fashion industry taking the Cool vs. Cruel anti-fur movement to heart, it seems that we're finally making some headway on the realization that cruelty for the sake of couture isn't the best idea. Plus, when celebs like Hayden Panettiere make headlines for their causes – like her involvement in Save The Whales, Again!
