Every year in February, celebs are gifted with swag beyond my wildest dreams at The Oscars. This year, the mother of all award shows has taken note of the number of celebrities with pets - and apparently recognizing how much we all spend on our little companions - Oscar included some pretty sweet items for Fido and Sassy as well.

With past people prizes generally being electronics, spa treatments, and fancy trips, this year the goodies also included some high-end pet beauty products, clothing, and things that sparkle. Clothes For the Hip(ster) Puppy

American Apparel, known for its simple garments, hipster image, and activism in the community has finally gone to the dogs. Doggie clothes, that is. Recently expanding their line of pet apparel, I caught these while perusing for some new shirts for myself. In addition to loving their ribbed puppy tees, they now offer a California Fleece Dog Vest ($16) with contrasting collar and leg openings in 22 color varieties! Now, I know some of you are on the fence about dogs in clothing when it's not cold weather, but I suppose if you dig your American Apparel duds, your pup can too! The streamlined, blank slate style of these tees would make a great foundation for a DIY craft project I've got in mind . . . stay tuned!

Out and About: Rhode Island's Park Ave Puppy's

At first glance, these sweaters may appear to be for babies! Fall and winter in Rhode Island, or anywhere in New England for that matter, can be super chilly. Many pet shops in Providence stock their shelves with handknit sweaters and coats that are pretty enough for people. If your pup shivers on his walks, that's a good reason to put a sweater on the lil' guy in colder temps. Park Ave Puppy's (you may recall the store from when it was featured on TLC's While You Were Out) carries some of the cutest doggie outerwear around, many of which are handmade designs. Lucky for you non-natives, they also have an online boutique where you can order some of their items –including these two sweaters – shipped straight to your doorstep.

Bare Bones: Ferret Couture

Although doggies may be the first pet that you might think of dressing up in little coats and jackets, they aren't the only ones with lines of couture clothing to spend your cash on. I never would have thought of it on my own, but cuddly ferrets seem to be a natural choice to show off their energy and personality with some savvy duds. Although, I'm not sure how many people would see this hip Camo Hoodie from Ferret Couture, since ferrets are mostly indoor animals, but it's totally cute nonetheless coming with a coordinating leash and harness. Remember, dogs are not the only animals that can be walked! Ferret Couture is based in the UK, but I think it's cool enough to spread the love from across the pond.
