Cuteness Continues on the Set of Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2

Hola, Papi! The loveable, rescued star of the original movie is back on set to film Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2! I can only guess what trouble the tiny pups will nearly escape from (fingers and paws crossed) this time, but I'm willing to bet there still won't be any scrimping in the fashion department.

As you may remember, even though the other main canine stars like Chloe and Delgado had many furry understudies, just one pooch - real name, Rusco - played Papi who found a new friend and forever home with one of the flick's trainers.

With the passing of Gidget, I'm wondering if there will be a rush to claim a piece of her past in the form of key chains, talking toys, and t-shirts all over the Internet. Take these tees for example, the doggie-sized shirts come in three colors ($15) and commemorate the classic commercial on your own pets.

My quick search found a pretty big selection still up for grabs on eBay and, if you're interested, there are open auctions to bring the original merchandise to your house. So are you?

Hi, Nigel! Meet Ashanti's Furry Costar From The Wiz

Some pups are born into famous families - like Moose's son, Enzo, both of whom played Eddie on Frasier. Others are discovered, including Papi from Beverly Hills Chihuahua and Nigel, Ashanti's costar in the latest Broadway production of The Wiz.
Abandoned on the streets of Arkansas, Nigel found a temporary home at the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society before he was "discovered" on its website. Acclaimed animal trainer Bill Berloni said:

Nigel's headshot called out to me. After thirty years of rescuing dogs for Broadway shows which began with Sandy (who shot to stardom in the original production of Annie), I know talent when I see it. After speaking to the shelter about his personality I knew he had star potential. I predict a great future for him. He is as smart as Sandy with the right amount of Bruiser (from Legally Blonde).

The two attended the aptly named "There's No Place Like Home" dog adoption day over the weekend in NYC, and their play opens June 12. Check out more pictures below.

Nationwide Canine Casting Call For Upcoming Disney Flick!

If your furry friends have stars in their eyes, here's the chance for one lucky celebripup to get a cameo role in an upcoming Disney film, Buddies. Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment hosted special casting calls in LA and San Diego over the weekend as part of a nationwide search for a camera-ready canine.

Participants were encouraged to come ready to shine – with two runways, Beverly Hills Chihuahua for glamorous furry fashionistas and a Bolt runway for all kinds of talents and tricks. If you missed this, find out the remaining cities, dates, and casting locations when you read more.

Audition slots are limited with sign-ups beginning at 12 p.m. and are on a first come, first serve basis:

Barney's Barking, Biting Mad as His First Dog Term Ends Soon

Don't get jealous lil guy! Seems like Barney (one of the two Scotties belonging to George W. Bush) may sense that another pup – one that we haven't even seen yet! – is already at the top of everyone's list. This pup is still super-duper cute as is his terrier pal, Miss Beazley, both currently residing in the White House. Have You Ever Watched a TV Show for the Animals?

I definitely know I notice pets in films, but I think I've got good recall for pets on sitcoms or reality shows, too – many times that's what keeps me tuning in week after week. Have you ever watched a TV show more for the animals than the two-legged stars? I definitely tuned into Frasier for Eddie more than the actual plotline, and I remember when the show was on (and "Moose" was still alive), he got more fan mail than anyone else on the show.
