I've spotted some pretty sleek cat trees for climbers, and here's another from Square Cat Habitat. Named for a famous tree type with trunks big enough for even you to fit in, the five-foot Baobab Climbing Tree comes in 100 percent renewable bamboo ($500) or laminate-covered, recycled wood fiber ($285). Even the carpet can be customized for picky kitties – there's 10 swatches to fit any furry home.

Makers of the Buddha we featured a while back, this designer also offers a super sweet end table, Bastet, perfect for cats that like to keep at least two paws a touch closer to the ground.

Can You Spot the Cat Tree?

As I was catching up on my cat news this weekend, I paused to meet the new HiCat cat tree on ModernCat. I instantly fell head over heels and began channeling Carrie Bradshaw when she finds the perfect pair of shoes! Can it get any better than a cat tree that also doubles as an architectural element in your home? Nope, sure doesn't.

The HiCat comes as a single, tree like pillar with safe interior cubby holes for your cat to perch in, which is much safer than climbing a real tree and dangling out on the branches! A durable outside ensures your kitty won't destroy it on first glance. The only downside? It's not yet available here in the US. But stay tuned, it should be here soon!

Re-Purposed Ikea Closet Makes a Great Cat Tree

I admit it, I love Ikea! Their inexpensive items are stylish, functional, and apparently can be re-purposed for many different uses. Take, for example, this cat tree found on Ikea Hacker. Its parts come from the Stolmen line of closet organizers and make a sturdy and attractive perch for kitty. These pieces – which can be bought separately – could easily be stained or painted to match any interior and, thankfully, won't take up too much space. Just add carpet and you are ready to go! Cat Tree Houses: Spoiled Sweet or Spoiled Rotten?

When first spotting these sleek kitty houses, I thought "how eco-tastic!" However, the trees are phonies. I guess it's good from a possible poisoning standpoint, but can't you imagine how sweet it'd be to have a real tree attached to a cat scratcher? Back to the product at hand - namely, two silk-leaved stalks in medium ($675) or large ($875). Even better than the real thing?

I don't even own a kitty, but I love this new, stylish cat tree from IKEA. BÄSTIS BLOND doesn't scream pet owner when company comes and won’t detract from your home’s décor as many function focused pet essentials can do. The wall-mounting feature allows it to double up as mod art installation while taking up less space than a traditional kitty playground. It just looks fun with climbing, scratching, and jumping possibilities plus nice landings for multiple cats and multiple naps.

Eco-tastic Essentials: Cat Tree

Made from 100 percent corrugated cardboard (with at least 35 percent recycled content), this "multi-functional piece of feline furniture" even gets its flashy colors using all non-toxic materials. The potential match-up between cardboard and cat claws does a skeptic make, yet the design firm promises it is extremely sturdy and can be sanded to get rid of any pesky scratch marks. Handmade by San Francisco-based Everyday Studio, the three aptly-named models: "Claw," "Pounce," and "Nap" are available at Branch for $84 and up.

If you get it home and your cat takes no interest, it can double as a seat or an end table – which makes me hope that the corrugated cardboard is rather strong indeed.
