In big cities like the big apple, if you're taking public transit, hailing a cab, or trying to ~~sneak~~ bring a doggie into a shop, you're often only allowed if your pet fits in a carrier. But, I remember from one of our first PetMarking missions, there are plenty of cute cases out there for people to choose and use! I don't agree with dog-as-accessory, and I think putting a pup in your purse – a bag not sold specifically for pet purposes – can hurt both the doggie and the bag. Now, Todd Oldham's certainly a busy man – being the new creative director of Old Navy causes him to jet between NYC and SF and sometimes, I'd imagine, he just grabs the first bag laying around before running errands. While there's nothing wrong with his classic L.L. Bean Boat and Tote, but I'd love for him to express that preppiness with a petspecific version instead. First off, Todd's doggy does not look comfy in that bag – it's meant for groceries and magazines, and the little one can barely see out despite obvious neck straining. Legs Out Front Pet Carrier: Spoiled Sweet or Spoiled Rotten?

Even though I've seen these in stores in the past, I would definitely do a double take if I spotted one of these girls on the street. Though there are many variations of this ~~baby~~ doggy carrier, products like the Legs Out Front Pet Carrier ($27.50 and up) are designed to promote bonding. A lot of bonding. As much as LilSugar loves those slings to snuggle her babe, I don't think I'm ready to tote my pup legs out – are you?

Cocoon Cat Carrier: Spoiled Sweet or Spoiled Rotten?

Could you have guessed this product's purpose if I hadn't told you? It's definitely too tiny for most dogs or big cats, but when I spotted this carrier on moderncat, I was totally curious. (No comments on what curiosity did to a hypothetical kitty.)

This "Cocoon" is simply a creative concept at the moment, but doubles as a bike carrier by using those green straps up top. Would you grab a cat and go with this if you could?

New Product Alert: Fall Carriers From Ella Dish!

Fall is my favorite time of year, mostly due to the great weather, but it's really the season's fashions that get me all a twitter! I'm getting set for the weather change in my wardrobe, so it's only natural that I get North all caught up, too – he's one hip hound if I do say so myself! If your pet can still fit in a carrier, you're going to fall in love with Ella Dish's new line of bags. These Ella Carriers ($165) are rugged enough not to get dirty after one use, and they come with the brand's signature nylon webbing. Since accessorizing is key to making a complete wardrobe, these cases will surely go with all your autumnal updates – sounds like another Fall must have to me!

Pampered Pals: A Bag Divided

While I can't say I'm a fan of the backpack, my shoulders appreciate any pet carriers with wheels. When walking long distances, it's the best way to tote a pet with minimal strain on my back. Even though the Trolley Bag ($178) is too big to vertically fit under the airline seat, I love the divider allowing you to pack two tiny pets or tote bowls and other key essentials under (or over) the adjustable shelf for other trips with just one furball.

You can wheel it under the seat slowly, allowing a pet time to adjust to the horizontal switch but at 10+ pounds, it would totally push most animals over the plane's weight limit - are you a fan or would you prefer something more compact?

Found! Britney's New Carrier (and Dog?)

Britney made a pit stop at Pets of Bel Air last Friday . . . and appears to have walked out with a new dog! As shocked as I am by this addition to her brood, I do approve of the luxe Kwigy-bo pet carrier she toted out as well. Quite ironically, the name of this bag model is the London, and can be found online for a modest $119.

Now I consider myself quite savvy at identifying dog breeds, and this pooch looks like a Maltese IMO, but check out a gallery of Britney holding the pup – and shot records calling it a three-month-old Chihuahua – for yourself when you read more
