Do Tell: What's the Weirdest Pet You've Ever Seen?

On Friday, Martha Stewart twittered about her neighbors' newest pet: a baby Camel! Born last Thursday, this little guy can weigh around 80 pounds at birth, so I hope the proud owners have plenty of space for them to roam (and from the looks of the picture, I'd say they do).

Although camels are generally found in desert climates, this lucky guy gets to call Connecticut home for now. I've seen some strange pets in my day, from monkeys to pot bellied piggies, but never a camel! What's the strangest pet you've ever seen?

Awwdorable Baby: Jenny and Jolan the Camel-ly Family

I am baby camel hear me . . . roar? Since I wasn't so sure what noise these creatures made, I did a bit of research and turns out they moan, groan, bleat, and roar. (Trivia tidbit - they also make a rumbling growl that served as one of the sounds creating Chewbacca's voice in the Star Wars movies!)

I've gotten a bit off track but, no matter what Jenny is trying to say here, I'm answering back – this lil J's already absolutely adorable. Meet the one-day-old (!) camel seen with her 17-year-old mother at the Budapest Zoo Park and Botanic Garden. Jenny weighs about 77 pounds and can snuggle right up to Jolan. Hopefully, she won't start the trademark camel spit up yet!

The Scoop: Boy Creates Camel Vests to Help Save Lives

A seven-year-old in Tel-Aviv, Israel has created a bright yellow camel vest with the help of his father in an effort to prevent the many car crashes that happen when camels cross the road.

The boy came up with the idea for the vest as part of a school project after hearing about a driver who was killed in a collision with a camel in the desert. Israeli police say 10 motorists have been killed in the last 10 years after colliding with stray camels in Israel, according to Reuters. Apparently, similar accidents have been reported in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates.

The father-son design team doesn't have any plans to market the vests, but they hope others will adopt the idea and help save lives.

I'm already Twitter pals with Martha Stewart (that camel's neighbor) and a big fan of her two super-cute smooshies, Francesca and Sharkey. Not only did she lose a puppy just three months ago, she tweeted today about the death of her cat, Mozart.

The 19-year-old (!) Himalayan was buried next to her late Chow Chow, Paw Paw. Seems the cat was a bit bossy to her other pets, but I guess that comes with her impressive age. RIP, sassy kitty!

Have You Ever Seen a Vicuña? (Hint: Check Out Baby Antonio.)

These llama-like creatures are actually the smallest members of the camel family, rarely weighing over 130 pounds full-grown. Lil Antonio was born on Oct. 14 in the Zoologischer Garten in Berlin – the first of his species born at the zoo in 10 years.

Native to the Central Andes Mountains in South America, the rare Vicuñas have been heavily exploited for their coat, which is said to make the best wool in the world.
